TIMELINE

reaking wor

The 2019 Breaking Work Competition asked us to theorize a future scenario in which humans interact with artiďŹ cial intelligence in the workplace. Set in 2050, we were forced to consider all factors regarding the true potential of AI and how that would effect the precense of humanity. With the capabilities of AI being endless, tthe challenge was ďŹ nding a solution in which humans weren’t completely negligable

development we’ve always been searching for the perfect assembly of housing and amenities for promoting comfort and accomodation. Shifted Living pulls ffrom utopian inuence creating a sense of community and neighborhood through symmetry, organization, and circultation while still having enough opportunity for seclusion that allows privacy when desired

The design is a basic 3-story residential tower that pushes and pulls to create opportunity for circulation and exterior relief. The main structure features 1x 3 bedroom below 2x 2 bedroom units, along with an attached garage. All units contain their own private front patio spaces.

OETRY FOUNDATIO

The prompt for this project was to create a space for the purpose of studying the art of poetry along with commemorating some of the great poets from around the world. We were pushed to consider tthe essence of poetry and analyze it’s underlying compounds in order to impliment them into the design in order to create a space that not only contained poetry but was, in a sense, a poetic movement in itself

For this phase of the project I wanted to convey themes of harmony, motion, and rhythm, while also implementing a more literal representation of poetry to further emphasize the building’s intent. To achieve this effect, I divided the building into eight rotating layers, each reflecting a prominent poem in pop culture; the distance between the windows being determined by the length of each word, and the windows themselves representing the spaces.

a welcome center for the Trammel Fossil Park in Sharonville, OH. The site is the only safe place in the Cincinnati surrounding area that children and fossil enthusiasts can go to learn about tthe history of our predessessors on this Earth. From the road, this park appears like any other piece of undeveloped landscape. My main goal was to create a space that brings attention to the lot while also starting a subtle but p provocative conversation between the structure and the plot in which it resides.

SUN PATH

My main goal for this assignment was to create a monolithic form that appears to emerge from the earth. After determining a location on site that best utilizes views, access, and light, I then molded the form to follow the slight curve in the landscape contours. I proceded to open up South and East facing planes to optimize daylight. The complex geometry allows the sunlight to bounce around creating a unique lighting condition that distorts the spacial perception of the observer.

ia-CBC COMPETITIO

Our submission for the UIA-CBC International Design Competition was a collaboration between my team at UC and a team from Beijing Jiatong University. The challenge was to create an interactive installation that could serve as a temporary home to those visiting the Siyang Coun County pear orchard, initiating an atmosphere in which they could escape from the harsh weather while still having the opportunity to appreciate the beauty that surrounds them. Our submission was an ensemble of 6 different structures each serving their own purpose accomidating for means of function and relaxation. The top 15 submissions were invited to the Guoyoan Village in China to build their design.

We spent 3 weeks in Siyang County building our design. It gave us an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to design-build scenarios. What made this experience so unique was in the fact that we were immersing ourselves into a completely dif ferent way of life. We had to learn to communicate with our Chinese -speaking crew ef ficiently and ef fectively in order to uphold quality of craft.
