Retail Design Institute Student Competition 2011 Creation of a Discount Department Store in an existing structure

Total Area: 30,790 square feet LOGO DESIGN Statements “S” came from the idea that it is the letter “S” slightly abstracted into a hanger, and then ultimately, this is the hanger that will be in the store on the clothing racks. It is simple and elegant, and is consistent with the message behind the store. Statements Department Store was created out of the idea that people express themselves through their clothes and possessions, making a statement to the outside world. Our promise is to provide customers with a sustainable purchase that will make a statement in their life.

Statements goes beyond a typical department store. The materials used in the design embraced the new generation of sustainability. Thoughout the store there are ways to encourage consumers to “go green” in their lives. Statements likes to give back by donating a percentage of proceeds to a related local organization. For example, purchases made in the Junior’s section support Big Brother, Big Sister Programs in the area.
