To get straight to the point not everyone likes horror movies. People do not like watching something that shows grotesque images and violent killings. Or perhaps they feel it’s stupid and pointless to watch because why watch something that feels so negative and horrific? Well the answer is not as complex as people make it out to be. Granted I can’t speak for everyone else but to me personally it’s a lot deeper than people think it is. It all started for me when I was in elementary. First horror movie I watched was It, a movie adaption of Stephen King’s novel of the same name, as a punishment from my mother. But it backfired and I ended up enjoying it. Since then I’ve had a love for horror films. But why? Well for a couple different reasons. The main reason for it is the adrenaline. Watching a horror movie and feeling the tension builds up an excitement that draws you in and keeps you hooked and when you’re finally able to release that tension your heart is pumping and it all resets. It’s that excitement that makes you want to watch more and it’s almost kind of addicting. So what is the reason why I’m doing my exhibition on these horror icons? Well they are what shaped the foundation of horror today. Today’s generation did not get the luxury of experiencing the terror you felt when you watched A Nightmare on Elm Street and being scared to sleep after, or the fear of creatures that are not from this world. Each character presented in this exhibition has earned their star on the Hollywood horror walk of fame. The villains presented are all unique and different from is reasons behind the evil deeds they do down to their origin. I want people to look at horror from a different perspective. It is not easy coming up with an antagonist for a horror film that becomes well known house hold names even among people who has never seen a single movie of them in it. These characters gave you a reason to fear them and that’s why they have stuck around for so long because they are not your cookie cutter run of the mill ghost or ghoul but soul ripping mind tormenting juggernauts that each specialize in doing it their own way. Modern age horror has forgotten that fear and I want to remind them of the original boogeymen that were the cause of terror among the people of my generation. With this exposition I hope you learn more about the beings that terrorized the past youth and to be more open minded to trying out the horror genre. For those who are not familiar with anything horror I hope that they find light to look into these horror icons from the past. Please read through and enjoy

Pumpkinhead ‘‘Keep away from Pumpkinhead, Unless you’re tired of living, His enemies are mostly dead, He’s mean and unforgiving, Laugh at him and you’re undone, But in some dreadful fashion, Vengeance, he considers fun, And plans it with a passion, Time will not erase or blot, A plot that he has brewing, It’s when you think that he’s forgot, He’ll conjure your undoing, Bolted doors and windows barred, Guard dogs prowling in the yard, Won’t protect you in your bed, Nothing will, from Pumpkinhead!”
