Nike and Reebok, two of the largest players in the sports gear industry, are embroiled in an unholy spat over who gets to make and sell products featuring the name of newly minted New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. Late Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Kevin Castel in Manhattan granted Nike Inc. a temporary restraining order that will prohibit Reebok International from profiting off of jerseys and other paraphernalia stamped with the football star's moniker. The order also forces Reebok to recall all Tebow-related Jets gear currently on shelves.

A few months after severing its relationship to tainted cyclist Lance Armstrong, athletics gear giant Nike has dissolved its ties to Livestrong Foundation, the cancer charity he founded in 1997. In a statement Tuesday, officials at Livestrong - known for the yellow wristbands it sells to raise funds - declined to explain the timing of the split but cautioned observers not to “jump to negative conclusions about the foundation's future.� “We expected and planned for changes like this and are therefore in a good position to adjust swiftly and move forward

Nike announced Wednesday that it is ending its contract with seventime Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong because of mounting evidence that he participated in doping. "Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him," Nike said in a statement. "Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.

Sports footwear and apparel maker Reebok has tied up with 15 retailers to create 15 interpretations of its 'workout' shoe, to celebrate 25 years of its existence. Released to coincide with the 'workout's 25th anniversary, each new variant of the shoe will feature different materials, colours and patterns. Reebok has also created four films with four retailers to display the retailers' interpretations of the Reebok workout

Sports brand Reebok on Thursday launched an exclusive campaign targeted to tap the burgeoning market for women's wear in India. Covering major metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, the 'I am More' campaign targets the untapped women customer base. The company has re-vamped its product strategy and will offer apparel for occasional usage like street, club and fitness wear.

Preston Truman reportedly asked Jordan for his Nike Air Jordan XII shoes after he led the Chicago Bulls to a 90-88 victory in Game 5 by scoring 38 points while suffering from flu symptoms.
