Welcome to Papatoetoe Intermediate School A very special welcome to our new students and their families, your child will have many new opportunities, exciting experiences and challenges throughout this year. We have been impressed with the way our students have already stepped up to take on school and class duties. Please support them to carry out these responsibilities. My name is Jonnie Black and I am the Syndicate Leader, I look forward to meeting many of you over the next coming weeks and in particular at ‘Meet the Teacher Evening’ in Week 3 at 5:00pm. I have an open door policy and am very happy to discuss with you any questions you may have. Our theme for this Term is ‘Belonging’ each class will be investigating how ‘we’ belong both here at Papatoetoe Intermediate and in the world around us. This topic will be integrated across the curriculum. In would like to introduce the Team. In Week 3 (Thursday 16th February) we have our Meet the Teacher Evening at 5:00pm. All classes create a performance item for your enjoyment. This is a great opportunity to come in and meet your 2017 classroom teacher and other key staff members.
It is important that all our students are ready and prepared for learning. Stationary lists and packs are available at student reception. We ask that all students have their full set of stationary by the end of Week 2.
Education Outside the Classroom and Parent Helpers As a part of our learning journey we have exciting opportunities for the children. These learning experiences (outside the classroom) relates to our term focus. We will send home more information about School Trips closer to the time. With any school trip we would absolutely love to have you accompany the students. Please let your classroom teacher know if you are available and willing to support. We appreciate all the help we get.
Uniform We have moved to our new school uniform this year, this can be purchased at the Warehouse. All students are to be in plain black shoes of any kind. Girls may also wear shorts provided they are plain black. Please speak to your classroom teacher if you are unsure.
