They were suicide pilots that initially crashed their planes, which are full of bombs, into enemy ships.




Their name comes from the name the Japanese gave to the typhoon that destroyed the Mongol ships in the 13th century and saved the country from invasion. Their name also means the suicide pilots of the Empire of Japan.




They were used to destroy enemy ships. They introduced because Japan was very poor and they couldn’t make as many plane as other countries could and the ones they did make them they were very poorly made so they just flew them into ships.




The typical age for the pilots was 18-24 years old.
