Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, 2009

Created a stewardship plan of the 411-acre Reservation for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Three-member team consulted with and presented ideas to the reservation supervisors, the governor-appointed Walden Pond Advisory Board, and directors of the DCR’s planning department, GIS program, and regional and district supervisors. Used GIS data, field observations, interviews, journals, articles, and studies to analyze site conditions, site uses, ecological concerns, and management priorities. Created a zone management strategy to define and phase stewardship priorities and actions. Delivered formal multimedia presentation to the Walden Pond Advisory Board and DCR staff, and wrote a 108-page stewardship plan document.

Town of Bolton Conservation Commission, 2009

Developed management guidelines for a 48-acre parcel of conservation land managed by the Bolton Conservation Commission as part of a two-person team. Determined a 12-month recommendation set for site improvements through an analysis of site conditions, public surveys, existing Open Space and Recreation Plan objectives, and meetings with the client and the public. Outlined options for future management goals, and detailed sustainable stewardship practices for natural resource conservation and regeneration on-site. Distilled the iterative management process to create a useable framework for additional management parcels in Bolton.

Culleton-McDonald Residence, 2008

Conceived, drafted, and presented a residential design for homeowners in Northampton, MA. Surveyed the site, interpolated topographical data, and drafted all base maps, analyses, designs, and construction details. Designed a site plan emphasizing sustainable maintenance for a 0.14-acre residential property. Analyzed site context, soils, vegetation, slopes, legal restrictions, circulation, and views to determine appropriate structural and ecological design elements.
