1.2.1 BODY AND ENDS The body is made of cast steel or forged steel, depending on the customers’ requirements. In the case of normal design standards, (API-6D, EN 17292, etc.) the thickness of the body will comply with what is indicated in these standards according to the pressure rating of the valve. Should none of these standards apply ARFLU uses the regular standard EN 12516 for the determination of minimum thickness. All our ball valves are bidirectional and can be installed both in vertical and horizontal position.

DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE:

El cuerpo es fabricado en acero fundido o forjado, dependiendo de los requerimientos del cliente. En caso de aplicar normas estándar de diseño, (API-6D, EN 17292, etc) el espesor del cuerpo cumplirá lo indicado en esta normativa en función del rating de presión de la válvula. Caso de no aplicar ninguna de estas normas ARFLU utiliza la norma estándar EN 12516 para la determinación de los espesores mínimos. Todas nuestras válvulas de bola son bidireccionales y pueden ser instaladas tanto en posición vertical como horizontal

The spherical sections are designed to reduce tension under the most severe working conditions. The sealing rings of the seats are carefully machined to prevent leaks between the body and the seat. The surface of the seats should be at least 1.6 AARH Extraordinary careful attention is made to ensure that the body flange and the bonnet flange are parallel and perpendicular to prevent leakage problems between both, except for fully welded valves in which case they are obviously welded.

The standard flange face has a spiral type smooth finish 125-250 AARH. Other finishes may be carried according to requirements. Our valves are provided with the possibility of fitting auxiliary plugs or connections in accordance with ASME B 16.34 to allow drainage, secondary injection lines, instrumentation, measurements, etc. The connections from the valves to the pipes can be done using flanges or butt weld ends according to either international or national standards as the client so requirements.

La cara de las bridas estándar tiene un acabado espiral liso tipo ”Smooth finish” 125-250 AARH. Se pueden realizar otros acabados según requerimiento. Nuestras válvulas tienen previstas la posibilidad de colocar TAPÓNes o conexiones auxiliares según ASME B 16.34 para permitir drenajes, líneas de inyección secundaría, instrumentación, mediciones, etc. Las conexiones de las válvulas a las tuberías pueden hacerse según bridas o extremos para soldar tanto según normas internacionales o normas expresas del cliente.

1.2.2 DISEÑO DE BOLA FLOTANTE CON ASIENTOS BLANDOS Este diseño proporciona flexibilidad al anillo de asiento. Cuando la presión en la línea es baja, la bola es empujada contra el anillo de asiento sin deformarlo. Como el anillo de asiento es flexible es capaz adaptarse a la bola, aumentando el área de cierre, por lo que el cierre a baja presión mejora. 10

Cuando la presión en la línea aumenta la bola es empujada fuertemente contra el anillo de asiento. 1.2.2 DESIGN OF FLOATING BALL VALVE WITH SOFT METAL SEATS

El anillo de asiento es deforma elásticamente y la superficie de cierre alcanza su máximo.

This design gives flexibility to the seat ring. When the pressure in the line is low, the ball is pushed against the seat ring without deforming it. As the seat ring is flexible it can adapt to the ball, increasing the closure area, therefore enhancing closure at low pressure.

Cuando la presión se disminuye otra vez el anillo de asiento recupera su forma.

When the pressure in the line increases, the ball is thrust against the seat ring.

En este caso la válvula sería unidireccional

The seat ring deforms elastically and the closing surface reaches its maximum limit. When the pressure decreases once again the seat ring recovers its shape. We have a special design in which one of the seats is replaced by a rigid ring with spring activated soft closing. In this case the valve is unidirectional. This design allows for a better closure in the medium and long term with pressure free valves. Likewise it allows for automatic depressurisation in the case of over pressure. With this design we obtain a longer life of the soft seats as they self-adjust depending on the wearand-tear.

Disponemos de un diseño especial en el que uno de los asientos es sustituido por un anillo rígido con cierre blando actuado por muelles.

Este diseño permite un mejor cierre a medio y largo plazo con las válvulas sin presión. Así mismo permite despresurizaciones automáticas en caso de sobre presiones. Con este diseño conseguimos una mayor vida de los asientos blandos ya que se auto ajustan según se van desgastando.


In this design the ball is guided by the up and down stems. In this case the only possible movement for the ball is to rotate on its stem.

En este diseño la bola es guiada por dos ejes. En este caso el único movimiento posible para la bola es la rotación sobre su eje.

To close the valve, the springs push the seat rings against the ball making a perfect close. The springs are used for providing uniform pressure and guided movement.

Para realizar el cierre de la válvula los muelles. Empujan los anillos de asiento contra la bola proporcionando de esta forma un cierre perfecto. Los muelles son usados para proporcionar una presión uniforme y un desplazamiento guiado.

This type of design is normally used for medium and high pressure valves (600 lbs. and above) and for 10” sizes (DN-250) or more. For these cases, a floating ball design is not advisable as the pressure and/or size will compress the ball against the seat, causing breakage or the wedging of the ball in the seat.

Esta tipo de diseño es típicamente usada para válvulas de media y alta presión (600 lbs y superiores) y para tamaños de 10” (DN-250) o mayores. Para estos casos, un el diseño de bola flotante no es recomendable ya que la presión y/o tamaño comprimiría la bola contra el asiento, produciendo una rotura del mismo o un enclavamiento de la bola en el asiento.

1.2.4 ANTISTATIC DESIGN In general the packing closures and the gaskets are made with non conductive materials such as PTFE, Viton, graphite, etc. In these cases, to guarantee electric continuity, a simple system of ball and spring positioned on the stem of the valve. The spring pushes the ball, placing the stem and the body in constant contact, thus maintaining electric continuity throughout the unit while at the same time avoiding sparks caused by electrostatic.

1.2.4 DISEÑO ANTIESTATICO Por lo general los cierres de la empaquetadura y las juntas se realizan en materiales no conductivos como PTFE, viton, grafito, etc. En estos casos para garantizar la continuidad eléctrica se utiliza un sistema sencillo de bola y muelle colocado en el eje de la válvula. El muelle empuja la bola, poniendo constantemente en contacto, el eje con el cuerpo, manteniéndose por lo tanto la continuidad eléctrica en todo el conjunto y evitándose también el que se produzcan chispas debido a la electricidad estática.




1.2.5 ANTI BLOW OUT STEM

To prevent the stem from being displaced from its location as a result of unexpected pressure increase, the end of the stem is “T” shape. To avoid friction between the stem and the upper bonnet a gasket is used which also provides the functions of airtightness, normally in PTFE, which may be replaced by another material as required.

Para evitar que el eje sea expulsado de su ubicación por un aumento inesperado de la presión, el final del eje es del tipo “T”. Para evitar la fricción entre el eje y la tapa superior se coloca una junta que también hace las funciones de estanqueidad, normalmente de PTFE, pudiéndose sustituir por otro material según requerimiento.

1.2.6 PACKING The packing, in general, is made of elastomeric or graphite rings. The most usual shapes of these rings are V or rectangular. The pressure in the rings is supplied by means of the gland flange. In the gas valves Arflu uses dual packing made up of an elastomeric or graphite ring and two O-rings.

1.2.6 EMPAQUETADURA Para evitar que el eje sea expulsado de su ubicación por un aumento inesperado de la presión, el final del eje es del tipo “T”. 1.2.7 SECONDARY INJECTION SYSTEM

System normally used for gas valves. A sealant may be injected both in the body and in the stem to repair loss of airtightness. For 6” valves and greater, the body injectors are positioned on the two seats, while for 4” and greater the injectors are placed directly on the body. These injectors consist of a ball check valve to avoid leaks.

Sistema típicamente utilizado en válvulas para gas. Un sellante puede ser inyectado tanto en el cuerpo como en el eje para reparar una perdida de estanqueidad. Para las válvulas de 6” y mayores los inyectores al cuerpo se colocan sobre los dos asientos, mientras que para 4” y menores los inyectores se colocan directamente en el cuerpo Estos inyectores estan compuestos por una válvula de retención a bola para evitar fugas al exterior. En los casos de válvulas enterradas estos sistemas se prolongan a lo largo de la extensión del eje.

In the case of buried valves these systems prolong the whole length of the stem.


1.2.8 Double Black AND Bleed A system that allows the closure of the two faces and a venting of the valve chamber. 13

The spring system in the seat rings means that the sealing ring is always in contact with the ball. In the event of a pressure increase in the chamber of the body due, for example, to thermal expansion which exceeds the load of the seat springs, the springs will compress freeing the liquid from the cavity to the tube, creating an auto-decompression of the area. 1.2.10 FIRE SAFE DESIGN All our valves incorporate fire protection design, complying with international standards such as API-607, API6FA, BS-6755. To guarantee this design we use fire resistant gaskets and packings namely graphite for the packings and metal with graphite for the gaskets. The seats are designed to have secondary metallic closing with the ball in case the soft seats get destroyed.

1.2.11 FULLY WELDED VALVES In this type of valve the body-face union is done by welding. In these cases Arflu carries out a specific design of these zones, giving maximum importance to the welding angle. Welds are carried out by approved procedures and welders. To guarantee the quality of the welds non destructive tests, such as ultrasound and penetrating liquids, are carried out. During the welding process special attention is paid to ensure no damage is done to the seats. To do so, the temperature of the seat area is controlled by thermocouples.

1.2.9 AUTO DECOMPRESSION OF THE BODY CAVITY

1.2.8 DOBLE BLOQUEO Y PURGA Sistema que permite un cierre en las dos caras a la vez y realizar un venteo de la cámara de la válvula.

1.2.9 AUTO DESCOMPRESIÓN DE LA CAVIDAD DEL CUERPO El sistema de muelles en los anillos de asiento hacen que el anillo de cierre siempre este en contacto con la bola. En caso de un aumento de presión en la cámara de cuerpo, debido, por ejemplo a una expansión termal, que exceda la carga de los muelles del asiento estos se comprimirán liberando el fluido de la cavidad a la tubería, produciéndose una auto descompresión de esta zona.

1.2.10 DISEÑO ANTI FUEGO Todas nuestras válvulas tienen diseño seguro al fuego, cumpliendo la normativa internacionales como API-607, API- 6FA, BS-6755. Para garantizar este diseño utilizamos juntas y empaquetaduras resistentes al fuego como puede ser el grafito para las empaquetaduras y metal con grafito para las juntas Los asientos se diseñan para tener un cierre metálico secundario con la bola en caso que los asientos blandos sean destruidos

1.2.11 VÁLVULAS TOTALMENTE SOLDADAS En este tipo de válvulas la unión cuerpo carretes se realiza mediante soldadura. Para estos casos Arflu realiza un diseño específico de estas zonas, dándole una gran importancia a los ángulos de soldadura. Las soldaduras se realizan mediante procedimientos y soldadores homologados. Para garantizar la calidad de las soldaduras se realizan ensayos no destructivos como ultrasonidos y líquidos penetrantes. En el proceso de soldadura se tiene un especial cuidado para no dañar los asientos, para ello se controla la temperatura en la zona de los asientos mediante termopares.

technical 2.2.4 RETENTION OF THE STEM (Anti blow out stem) To avoid the stem from being thrust from its location due to an unexpected increase in pressure, the end of the stem is “T” shape. To avoid friction between the stem and the upper bonnet, a gasket is put in place which also provides airtightness, normally PTFE, which may be replaced by another material according to requirements.

2.2.1 DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE: These are inverted plug valves with a pressure balancing system obtained by section difference in the upper and lower part of the plug and anti-backflow valve which keeps the pressure in the valve chamber, thus avoiding locking of the plug independently of the differential pressure which is used. The structure of these valves is top entry type with bolted bonnet.

2.2

PLUG VALVES

2.2.2 BODY The body is made of cast iron. In the case of normal design standards, (API-6D, API-599, etc.) the thickness of the body will comply with what is indicated in these standards according to the pressure rating of the valve. Should none of these standards apply, ARFLU uses the regulation standard EN 12516 to determine minimum thickness.

2.2.5 MACHO The plug may be made of cast iron or forged steel, depending on the requirements of the customer, and with different coatings. The closure between the body and plug is metal-metal. To avid grippings there is a grease film between body and plug. This grease is injected to the body using injectors already incorporated.

2.2.3 ANTISTATIC DESIGN The spring pushes the ball, placing the stem in constant contact with the body and thus maintaining electric continuity throughout the unit and avoiding sparks as a result of electrostatic.

2.2.4 MACHO El macho puede ser fabricado en acero fundido o forjado, en función de los requerimientos del cliente, con distintos recubrimientos El cierre entre cuerpo y macho es del tipo metal metal. Para evitar los gripamientos existe una película de grasa entre cuerpo y macho. Esta grasa es inyectada al cuerpo mediante unos inyectores existentes en el mismo.

2.2.1 DISEÑO Y CONTRUCCIÓN Estas son válvulas de macho invertido con sistema de equilibrado de presión que se consigue mediante la diferencia de secciones de la parte superior e inferior del macho, y de una válvula anti-retorno que mantiene la presión en la cámara de la válvula, de forma que se evita el bloqueo del macho independientemente de la presión diferencial a la que se utilice. La estructura de estas válvulas es del tipo top entry con tapa atornillada

2.2.2 CUERPO El cuerpo es fabricado en acero fundido. En caso de aplicar normas standard de diseño, (API-6D, API-599, etc) el espesor del cuerpo cumplirá lo indicado en esta normativa en función del rating de presión de la válvula. Caso de no aplicar ninguna de estas normas ARFLU utiliza la norma standard EN 12516 para la determinación de los espesores mínimos.

2.2.3 DISEÑO ANTIESTATICO Por lo general los cierres de la empaquetadura y las juntas se realizan en materiales no conductivos como PTFE, viton, grafito, etc. En estos casos para garantizar la continuidad eléctrica se utiliza un sistema sencillo de bola y muelle colocado en el eje de la válvula. El muelle empuja la bola, poniendo constantemente en contacto, el eje con el cuerpo, manteniéndose por lo tanto la continuidad eléctrica en todo el conjunto y evitándose también el que se produzcan chispas debido a la electricidad estática

GLOBE VALVES

PRINCIPALES ELEMENTOS DE LAS

VÁLVULAS DE GLOBO

3.2.1 CUERPO El cuerpo de la válvula se fabrica en acero fundido o forjado, en función de las exigencias del cliente. En cualquier caso, tanto las temperaturas y presiones de servicio serán según ASMI B16.34, los espesores minimos del cuerpo según BS1873 o BS 5352. Las válvulas de globo sólo admiten un sentido de paso del fluido, y pueden ser instaladas tanto en posición vertical como horizontal. Todo el rango de ratings de válvulas de globo se fabrica en secciones circulares, con el objetivo de minimizar tensiones bajo condiciones severas de funcionamiento. Estas secciones son diseñadas con detenimiento para evitar cualquier concentración de tensión. El asiento del anillo de cierre se mecaniza cuidadosamente y se examina para prevenir fugas entre dicho anillo y el cuerpo de la válvula. La superficie del asiento debe tener una rugosidad mínima de 1,6 AARH. El mecanizado realizado en el cierre se controla escrupulosamente para garantizar el cierre hermético, y la perfecta intercambiabilidad de elementos de repuesto. Se le da especial importancia a asegurar la perpendicularidad y el paralelismo entre la tapa embridada superior y los extre-

mos embridados de la válvula, para así prevenir problemas de funcionamiento en línea y durante inspección y pruebas. La superficie de conexión del extremo para embridar tiene acabado en espiral con una rugosidad de 125-250 AARH. Es posible realizar otros tipos de acabado a petición del cliente. Las válvulas se pueden suministrar con conexiones auxiliares según ASME B16.34 tanto para funciones de drenaje, medición e instrumentación. Las dimensiones de las bridas cumplen con ASME B16.5. también se pueden fabricar otro tipo de bridas bajo petición.

3.2.2 ASIENTO En las válvulas de acero al carbono, el anillo del asiento se fabrica en material forjado. La superficie que hace el cierre está aportada del material solicitado por el cliente. Los asientos roscados recambiables son utilizados en válvulas de diámetro de 10” o menores, en válvulas de diámetros de 12” o mayores se opta por un diseño de asientos soldados. Normalmente se usan asientos integrales, con o sin aportación, para las válvulas de acero inoxidable. Están disponibles otro tipo de construcciones a petición del cliente.

3.2.2 SEAT For carbon steel valves seat ring is manufactured from forged steel. The sealing surface is sprayed welded with the material required by customer. Renewable threaded seat is used for NPS 10” and smaller valves, welded seat design is used for NPS 12” and bigger. For stainless steel valves usually integral seat is used, overlaid, or not. Other constructions are available under request. Seat surfaces are carefully machined to provide tightness. Special attention must be taken with the seat ring thread to avoid seizing. Special care is taken to provide hardness difference between seat and wedge according to BS 1873. For this reason seat rings are heat treated.

Globe valves are unidirectional and may be installed in both vertical and horizontal position. All ratings valves have circular sections to make minimum stresses, under severe working conditions,. These sections are carefully calculated in order to prevent stress concentrations. Sealing ring seating is carefully machined and inspected to prevent leakage between seat ring and body. Seating surface must be 1,6 AARH at least. Machining on seat sealing is controlled to ensure perfect sealing and interchange ability with spare parts. Special care is taken to ensure, body end flanges, and bonnet flange to be parallel and perpendicular to prevent operating problems in line and during testing. Flange facing is spiral smooth finish 125250 AARH standard machining. Other facings are available under request. Auxiliary connection bosses are provided according to ASME B16.34 for instrumentation, drain, or measure purposes. Flange dimensions fulfil with ASME B16.5. Other flange types may be produced under request.


Bonnet machining is carefully checked to ensure disc travel to be perpendicular to the bore line, so that operating problems are avoided. Stem nut seating must be parallel to bonnet connection. Stuffing box must be extremely smooth machined to provide perfect tightness without applying too much strength on the eye bolts. Life loaded stuffing box may be fitted for special applications using Belleville springs to improve durability and reliability of the packing seal. 42

3.2.3 BONNET Bonnet design is circular for all ratings. In all cases bonnet flange thickness is designed to work under most severe conditions according to ASME B16.34. Body bonnet connection is usually malefemale designed up to 900 class valves. For class 1500 and 2500 pressure seal design is preferable. On request other connections such as RTJ seal may be supplied. Auxiliary connection bosses are provided according to ASME B16.34 for instrumentation, drain, or measure purposes.

El obturador y el asiento se fabrican con durezas diferentes de acuerdo a la normativa BS 1873, por la misma razón, a los anillos de dicho asiento se les hace un tratamiento térmico para lograr diferencia de durezas entre el obturador y el asiento, tal y como requiere la norma BS 1873, se realiza un tratamiento térmico a las asientos . 3.2.3 TAPA El diseño de la tapa es circular para todo el rango de ratings. En todos los casos el grosor de la tapa embridada se diseña para soportar las condiciones de trabajo más severas, y de acuerdo a la norma ASME B16.34. La unión cuerpo-tapa se diseña normalmente tipo macho-hembra hasta válvulas de 900 #. Para 1500 # y 2500 # se aconseja que el diseño sea tipo sellado a presión (Pressure Seal). Se pueden suministrar bajo petición otros tipos de unión como el tipo RTJ.

3.2.4 DISC The disc seats on the seat ring to tight the valve. Disc is designed to revolve free over the stem to avoid rubbing against the seat ring while closing and prevent galling at the closure. Plug sealing surface is at least 13% Cr, integral or overlaid.

3.2.4 OBTURADOR El obturador asienta sobre el anillo del cuerpo de tal forma que se produce un cierre perfecto del paso de fluido, el obturador se diseña para que gira libremente sobre el hosillo de tal forma que se adapta al anillo de cierre y no se gripe.. El material de la superficie de cierre del obturador tiene al menos un 13 % de contenido en Cr y puede ser integrado o aportado. El obturador por norma general se mueve en contra de la línea de presión, pero para válvulas de gran tamaño o de ratings grandes, y con la finalidad de reducir el torque de la válvula, el diseño se cambia para que el obturador se desplace a favor de la línea de presión. En estos casos la apertura se realiza en dos pasos:


en el primero la presión se iguala a ambos lados del obturador, y en el segundo la válvula abre. Para líneas con mucha turbulencia, o para válvulas instaladas en posición vertical, el obturador se suministra guiado en el asiento del anillo. Para aplicaciones especiales se pueden fabricar válvulas de globo parabólicas, de obturador porcentual o de asientos blandos. Las superficies de cierre se mecanizan cuidadosamente con el objetivo de alargar la vida de servicio, disminuir el torque de maniobra y evitar fugas en la válvula. 3.2.5 HUSILLO El husillo se hace de acero forjado de una sola pieza, su diámetro cumple con la normativa BS 1873.

3.2.6 GLAND ASSEMBLY The gland flange and the gland bushing push the packing rings to make them seal the stuffing box and the stem. Gland bushing is shoulder type to prevent over strength over the packing. Gland flange is designed with enough resistance to work on the most severe conditions. Gland flange and gland bushing are self adjusting to each other to ensure perpendicular pressure on the packing.

La conexión del husillo es tipo T. La cabeza en forma de T se diseña adecuadamente para permitir la adaptación del obturador al husillo en cualquier posición de ensamblaje, ya sea vertical u horizontal. En algunos casos se incluye una arandela para facilitar la adaptación del obturador al husillo. La conexión del husillo se diseña de tal modo que se prevenga el desacople del obturador, para ello se usa una tuerca husillo junto con una arandela hendida. La superficie de cierre del asiento atrás se mecaniza con especial cuidado para garantizar el termetismo con la válvula completamente abierta en línea presurizada. Por ello el acabado de la superficie de cierre de la empaquetadura debe ser suficientemente liso. El mecanizado de la rosca según ACME, también es suficientemente liso para obtener un par de operación bajo. 3.2.6 MONTAJE DEL PRENSAESTOPA La brida prensa y el casquillo prensa aprietan la empaquetadura haciendo cierre de la caja prensaestopas con el husillo. El casquillo prensa está achaflanado para evitar la sobre presión de la empaquetadura, la resistencia de este casquillo está diseñada para soportar las condiciones más duras de funcionamiento. 3.2.7 STEM NUT Stem nut is made of different materials such as ASTM A439 D2, Ni-Resist, or Aluminium bronze. Depending on the size and class of the valves rolling bearings are fitted on both sides of the stem nut, in order to make torque operation minimum.

Usually plug works opposite to the pressure line. For big size valves, or big ratings, to achieve a smaller torque on line, the design is changed to make plug work parallel to the pressure line. In this cases opening is in two steps. In the first one the pressure equalizes on both sizes of the plug, and in the second one the valve opens. For pipelines with a lot of turbulence, or for valves in vertical position, the plug is guided in the seat ring. Special manufactures such as parabolycal or percentual plug, or SOFT SEATED may be produced for special applications. Sealing surfaces are carefully machined so that long life, small torque, and no leakage are achieved.

3.2.5 STEM Stem is made of one piece forged steel. The diameter of the stem fulfil with BS1873. Stem connexion is T type. T head is properly designed to allow the plug adapt to the stem in any assembling position (vertical or horizontal). In some cases a washer is assembled to help the plug adapt to the stem. Stem connexion is designed to prevent the stem being disengaged from the plug using a stem nut and one split washer. Back seat sealing face is carefully machined to provide tightness on pressurized pipe line with valve fully opened. For this reason the surface finish of the packing seal must be smooth enough. Machining of ACME threads is smooth enough to obtain a low operating torque.
