The illustrated documentation shows above all the application of the special tools used for disassembling / assembling pneumatic hydraulic blind rivet nut fastener GBM 95.

2. How to disassemble and assemble a drill unit (6750) •

Disconnect device from compressed air supply

•

Loosen lock nut (652)

•

Pulling in an axial direction, carefully remove the valve hanger (6510) from the motor housing (6500). (Uncoupling the control air tubule)

Apply the supplied hook wrench (917) to unscrew the motor housing unit

3. How to exchange the pneumatic seal set (976) Using the O-ring removal tool (727 1239) and the dowel pin (727 1212) [Fig. 6, 7]

Dismantling: •

Insert the O-ring removal tool and carefully remove the casing ring and O-ring.

(Take care not to damage the groove)

Assembly: • • •

Insert the greased O-ring into the motor housing groove Position the dowel pin with the flat end at groove level Move the greased casing ring into position over the O-ring and push it into the groove, using the round side of the dowel pin.

4. Assembly aid guide pin Press the gear rim of the planetary gear (9540) into the motor housing prefitted with O-rings – as depicted – with the help of the guide pin (727 1220) – right up to the end stop.

...after that insert the rest of the planetary gear unit, connect it to the gear rim and – applying a slightly rotary movement – push it to the end stop.

...in a final step insert the air motor (9600) in the motor housing and connect it to the planetary gear.

Fig. 11 shows the prefitted modular units: • • • •

Fig. 12 shows the complete drill unit (6750) "ready for assembly".

Insert the drive unit for the drill unit into the con-rod (9320).

Guide the air pipe of the spring return piston (9350) through the location hole in the drill unit.

Push the drill unit to the device head and tighten it with the help of a hook wrench.

Slide the valve chamber (6510) to the device head, connect to control air tubule and then move it to end stop device head.

5. Threaded mandrel / unlocking aid By means of compressed air •

•

Before changing the threaded mandrel (910) disconnect the device from the compressed air supply.

Automatic unlocking is encouraged by turning the threaded mandrel to and fro.

If detachment proves impossible you can also aim – as depicted – a blast of air through the ventilation hole of the con-rod (910) to achieve unlocking.

6. Con-rod with removed spring return piston Fig. 14 shows the conrod assembly (9320) including snap ring groove and removed spring return piston (9350) with snap ring (991)

To detach this con-rod unit from the device, you must first remove the thrust bearing (9380) together with the related snap ring (991), working from the opposite side.

7. Using the clamping device

The clamping device (715 1470) makes easy work of disassembling and assembling.

8. How to change the seal ring holder (6320) Use the mounting wrench (715 1594) [Fig. 16,17,18] •

Disconnect the device from the compressed air supply (if not yet done)

•

Remove rubber foot (803d)

•

Loosen the countersunk screws (886) and remove together with base (803c)

•

Detach shell (903b)

•

Pull off pot (7030)

•

Carefully pull out air piston (6180) from the seal ring holder (6320) [Fig. 16]

•

Unscrew seal ring holder (6320) with a mounting wrench (715 1594) [Fig. 17]

Lubricate seals prior to fitting.

Bring rod seals (759) into depicted assembly position before pushing it with the help of the back of the bit stop (715 1608) against the flat side of the seal ring holder’s (6320) flat side.

Insert the O-ring.

Bring bearing ring into position at O-ring.

9. Disposing of hydraulic waste oil

Dispose of hydraulic waste oil through the shaft of the head of tongs (901) into a suitable container.

10. Assembling a duct (842) [Fig. 20] shows a spacer tube (715 1497) with attached duct (842) above the designated location hole in the gripping section (9020)

Flush-mount the duct right up to the end stop (spacer tube) with the help of a softfaced mallet (plastic).

11. Bit stop application

The bit stop (715 1608) is required for accurate positioning of the locking ring acting as end stop for the pneumatic seal, from the air piston (6180) to the drilled hole. (assembly) [Fig. 21]

12. How to disassemble and assemble a thrust piston unit (9340...)

[Fig. 22,23,24] DISMANTLING Use the supplied assembly pipe (918) to push out the thrust piston unit (9340.....) from the head of tongs (901); you might also need a soft-faced mallet

ASSEMBLY Important! When inserting the thrust piston unit into the head of the tongs, take utmost care that the air slot of the cylinder shell (9450) is congruent with the drilled hole of the head of tongs.

13. How to replace a trigger valve (9250) Utmost care must be taken to level a trigger valve in its gripping section (9020) before starting with the actual screwing action....

... as well as establishing a flush, that is, air-tight contact with the gripping section.

14. How to replace the switching valve unit "spool valve assembly (836)" [Fig. no. 27, 28, 29, 30]

Fig. 28 Use a suitable screwdriver to unscrew the sound absorber (841) from the clamping connection [Fig. 27]; Push bolt (848) out of press fit [Fig. 28]; grip control cylinder in waste air holes with suitable pliers and remove from gripping section (9020), applying a rotary movement. Remove spool valve (836) including spacer cage and seals (861).

This completes the disassembly of the switching valve unit.

Information: Lubricate seals and seal seats well before assembling.

15. How to top up hydraulic oil •

Keep push button pressed whilst disconnecting device from compressed air supply.

Unscrew shell (930) and remove thrust bearing (9380).

Unscrew filling screw (828) Push back sealing ring holder (6370) with supplied assembly tube (918), all the way to the end stop.

Top up with hydraulic oil to upper edge of sealing ring – avoid bubbles. [see fig. 32] Tighten filling screw.

Close device at compressed air supply until system resets. (approx. 3 sec.)

Open filling screw slightly to allow surplus to drain off and afterwards retighten.

In case of hydraulic froth (air present in oil) escaping, follow the sequence of operations described above until achieving oil that is free of bubbles.
