KEARNEY GOLDEN

GIRLS

SPIRIT

By Alison Kinney

Gracie Rothweiler

“I love my team and being able to do what I love, dance with amazing people,”said Grace Rothweiler of the Golden Girls. Gracie feels like the team will be very prepared for state. “When I was little I would watch all the girls that were on the team and then dream about being on the team,”said Gracie. Gracie hopes that she inspires other girls to be future Golden Girls. “I think that the dances we have are amazing, and we are going to blow everyone away with the performance,”

Jaiden Frost "I like being around all of the other girls, because they have my back."   The captions and co captions decide the songs.  " I do hope to inspire others because its a  really great experience" .  We have about six different costumes . Three of the costumes are for the games, three are for the competitions.

What was your favorite part of being on the golden girls dance team this year?

FINANCE REVIEW

INTERVIEW

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR THANKSGIVING? AN INTERVIEW WITH KJH MEMBERS BY ELLIE LOOPER

here are just a few stories about how some ordinary people spend their thanksgiving.

Chris Daniels a world history teacher and football coach he spent last thanksgiving with his wife and team. The Kearney football team made it to state last year, unfortunately the state championship was on thanksgiving weekend in St.Louis. Mr.Daniels went with the team and for thanksgiving he went to steak and shake and ate dinner with his wife. His daughter was at home with her grandma. Usually if the football team does not make it to state mr. daniels would trade off going to his mom’s and dad’s for thanksgiving he would also go hunting. He tries to spend as much time with his family as possible.

Freshman Kylee Bennett spends thanksgiving with her family and her dogs. For thanksgiving she hangs out with her family, travels to Iowa, and goes Black Friday shopping. Kylee unfortunately has to work this year over thanksgiving break. She is happy that she will get a paycheck to go black Friday shopping with. She's. It much for decorating for thanksgiving she's more of a Christmas person. Freshman grant burns likes to spend his thanksgiving with his grandparents. He's not much of a Black Friday shopper, he just likes to hang out and eat over break. Grant's mom does most of the decorating around the house. There are lots of different ways to spend thanksgiving. These are just a few stories from students and teachers about their thanksgiving traditions.

Most people spend time with their mom, dad, or grandma & grandpa. They all usually eat the traditional turkey and pie, or some don't celebrate.

Dan Luellen is a coach for the Kearney High School football team, they won the state district championship this year, if they keep winning they will be traveling somewhere else to keep on their winning streak! If they do keep on doing so,then they will not be home in time to cook the turkey or make the pie. They will have to just skip the celebratory dinner and just be thankful for their win! I asked Dan Luellen if he did anything different on thanksgiving and he said, “I lay around and watch football,” because when he’s not home that’s what he does. Last year he said he went to Steak and Shake for thanksgiving because he had to go and couch the Kearney football game. But you don't have to have the dinner or dessert to be thankful for what you have, you can be thankful every day. Thanksgiving is just a day to acknowledge it! Some people, like Blake Orth and Hailey Dusek, get to go to their family's house and eat and have fun celebrating with all of their family. I asked Blake Orth if he has more than one thanksgiving and he said “yes I do, I have four thanksgivings,”I asked why and he said “ Because I go to my moms, dads, grandpa’s, and my other grandpa’s. I asked Hailey Dusek the same question and she said “yes, I have 2.” Even if you don’t have as many, or any, you can still because thankful for everything you have! “ I am thankful for food, family, and friends” said Dusek.

KJH Election                         KJH Mock Election. The Kearney Junior High school held a mock presidential election on november 8th. “I think Hillary will win.” says freshman Caleb Waddell. The election was between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton. The students at KJH voted for trump over Hillary  in a landslide victory. There was 305 votes for Trump and only 105 votes for Hillary. The teachers also voted for Trump over HIllary. There was 18 votes by teachers for Trump and only 13 votes for Hillary. So it is clear trump won but in interviews from the 9th grade found almost no one who supported Trump. In an interview with freshman Nic Westerfield, he said that he does not support Trump and “he is an egomaniac”. Also I interviewed another freshman, Caleb Waddell. Caleb says “Trump does not seem like a trustworthy person to have as a president.” Trump won the election but there were several freshman who don’t like Donald Trump.
