ABOUT THE PROGRAM

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

The Johns Hopkins Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management is a fully online, accredited graduate program designed to sharpen your analytical and management skills, whether you are assuming a leadership role in a nonprofit, aspiring to one, or hoping to gain a greater understanding of an important and vibrant sector with which you interact frequently. All the courses feature a global perspective for relevance in today’s world of interconnected economies and communication.

The certificate may be completed on its own or in addition to other graduate degree offerings within Johns Hopkins’ Advanced Academic Programs, including the MA in Public Management or Museum Studies.

You may take courses at a full- or part-time pace. Many of our students are working full-time and/or juggling family responsibilities. Some travel extensively for their jobs, and some live abroad. All appreciate the convenience of an online format. Members of the faculty are deeply experienced professionals with

significant reputations in their field. The courses are informed by their experience and the body of research about what makes a nonprofit organization excellent and effective. Six online courses are necessary to complete the certificate.

For students in other countries, the courses offer a greater understanding of the role and potential of nongovernmental organizations and convey the best practices emerging from the American experience and from other countries with an advanced nongovernmental sector.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

PREREQUISITES

» Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

» Advanced English language skills in reading and writing.

» Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the latter half of undergraduate studies. Meeting the minimum GPA requirement does not guarantee admission.

» Particular interests and work experience may also be considered.

Students pursuing a Certificate in Nonprofit Management who are interested in furthering their education may enroll in the combined degree program offered with MA programs in Public Management, Museum Studies, or Communication. This enables students to earn both the MA degree and a graduate certificate. Those interested, including current students, have to option to apply to the combined MA
