Dissertation Writing Format and Presentation Style
Dissertation is a paper submitted in support of application for an academic degree or professional qualification includes the author's research and results. Dissertation is normally used for a part of doctorate degree. A normal dissertation has a title page, an abstract, a table of content, comprising the different chapters (introduction, literature review, findings, etc.), and a bibliography or a references segment. Dissertations usually report on a research or study, or an extended study of a topic. The structure of the dissertation tells the function, the methods and the findings of the topic. World universities using format is: a) An introduction- Includes research topic, the methodology and scope. b) Literature review- reviewing related literature and showing how it comes as research issue c) A methodology chapter- Describing how the research has been intended and why the research methods or data collection and analysis being used have been preferred d) Findings chapter- outlining the findings of the research itself e) Analysis and discussion chapter- analyzing the findings and discussing them in the context of the literature review f) Conclusion The main presentation style of the paper considering the front page matter (i.e., title page, abstract, table of content, etc.) and for it uses a separate page number sequence from the main text, using roman numerals. The important international standard and many newer style guides identify that this book design practice can cause confusion. Therefore they avoided the separate number sequences for front page matter and need a single sequence of Arabic numerals starting with 1 for the first page. Presentation requirements, pagination, outline, type and color of paper, paper size, order of components, and citation style will be checked by the accepting executive before the dissertation is established and a receipt is issued.
