Blood Drive reaches 66 units!
he Xavier science department annually hosts the Blood Drive as one more way of giving back to our community,” said Brother William. “All of our students participate in community service. The Blood Drive is just one example of how we ask them to be a role model for others; to show their peers how to integrate the Gospel and the Gospel values into their lives.” Mr. Rajbir Jaswal, science department chair and chairman of the blood drive said, “Our goal was to gather 75 units of blood. Student turnout was stronger than anticipated. We had some last minute scheduling changes that moved the date to a senior service day, so many seniors were out of the building until late morning. A number of teachers stopped in during their free periods to donate as well.” Checking in with Red Cross personnel at the end of the drive, records showed we had reached a total of 66 units. One unit typically allows the Red Cross to help three people. So this drive should benefit about 200 individuals. In addition to donating blood, volunteers registered donors, served after-donation refreshments and helped out in other ways.
