As mother of the bride you want to look your best without upstaging the bride but what colour do you choose, hat or fascinator, long or short - there are just so many choices the whole process is a little bit complex! We’ve rounded up so top tips to help you pick the perfect outfit.
Colour Gone are the days when a mother of the bride is expected to wear a ghastly garment solely because it’s the same colour as the bridesmaids. These days mums are choosing a colour that’s right for them but still blends or compliments the colours of bridal party. Only one rule here – you can’t wear white!
Style Two considerations for this one. Firstly you need a style that suits your shape, if you don’t like the tops of your arms buy a dress with a sleeve or matching bolero or maybe you’re worried about your tummy, opt for a dress with a detail to draw the eye away from ‘problem’ areas. Secondly you need a style appropriate to the venue – a more traditional three piece might be perfect for a church wedding while a more contemporary marquee affair may call for a shorter length or more casual feel.
