A MESSAGE FROM JOHN CHRISTNER Welcome to May! Much of the country is warmer and wetter, which leads to potentially dangerous weather. Stay tuned to weather information throughout the day so you can make informed decisions on operating in areas where severe weather threats exist. Don’t get over-confident about the size and weight of your vehicle; a strong wind can certainly cause you problems! The roundtable discussions we’ve had have provided great feedback from our operators and non-driving staff allowing for collaboration between all of our associates. Changes will come from this collaborative effort and hopefully you’ll get the opportunity to participate in an upcoming session. Together we can insure that JCT continues to be a great place to work! Be well!

LEI DAY 2019!

W H AT E V E R

IT TAKES

John Wayne Christner nominates Keith Sally for the May “Whatever It Takes” award John Wayne said, “Keith is the embodiment of “Whatever It Takes.” Beginning as a driver over 31 years ago with John Christner, Keith has covered almost every department in the building at one point or another. Now a full time resident of our office, Keith is still willing to make himself available for OTR training of our new DM’s and planners - taking away time from his family to drive the East coast, of all places! Keith is a truly exceptional person, and man - I have never once witnessed him refuse any task, no matter the size or time of day. He is an unwavering ambassador of our brand, and a true asset to our JCT family. It is a pleasure to have him here, and an honor to have him as a friend. Thank you, Keith.” Keith will be honored with a trophy, a “Whatever It Takes” designated parking space in front of the building, and a $50 QuikTrip gas card. He will also have the honor of naming next month’s “Whatever It Takes” winner.

AMERICAN TRUCK DRIVER

RECOGNITION FOR WOMEN

“We travel these roads mile after mile; we deliver our freight and give them a smile. We sit and wait for hours on end; just to wake up tomorrow and do it again. We leave our family and our home; we stay in our trucks for weeks all alone. We do this job to feed out friends; for them our love it has no ends. We do not have a nine to fiver; we are the american truck driver.”

The Oklahoman newspaper recognized Cindy Whitney, who drives second seat for Parke Whitney, by featuring her in an article about women truck drivers.

JCT driver, Joel Tye, has a series of poems that he has written based off of his experiences on the road. Keep an eye out for more from Joel.

JCT is proud to announce that we are now a member of Women in Trucking.

DEDICATED DRIVER DM Keith Sally sent in a story about how one of his drivers, Darold Behnke. “Darold called and was telling me about the tornado that hit his home town of Ruston, Louisiana at 1:45am on April 25, 2019. He was at home under a load for a short break when the report came over the television at 1am that there will be a tornado in 45 mins for all to take cover NOW! The wind was blowing hard with lots of rain - a very stormy night. He told his wife to get into the bath-tub and stay there. He said that he had to go and get the truck out of town. He left his wife but stayed in constant communication by phone. He fought heavy winds for miles until he was clear. His wife is ok but the town of Ruston, LA is devastated. The place Darold parks while at home was hit hard leaving us to know had he not left, the truck, trailer, and load would have been destroyed. Darold has been a dedicated employee (trucker) since 1999 here at JCT. His load was destined for California and is safely en route.” For more on the storm, click here.

IN THE COMMUNITY GUNNER DAY On April 24th,we had the amazing privilege of getting to be part of the day now declared as ‘Gunner Day’ by Sapulpa’s mayor. Gunner is a first-grader from Sapulpa, Oklahoma that suffers from a rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. Walmart Heart Project organized the

day to be just as special as he is. Since Gunner has a love for trucks and Jeeps, local businesses came together to show him love by convoying from the Sapulpa Walmart to the Broken Arrow Walmart. Gunner got to sit right seat in the leading rig and was welcomed by the Broken Arrow Walmart with food, gifts and even some super heroes!

Gunner was invited to visit the JCT yard and spend a day at John Wayne’s side. We look forward to getting to spend more time with him and show him what trucking is all about! If you’d like to see more about the day, check out the News on 6 feature, click here.

conversations have included a variety of people, we have received some invaluable feedback that is going to lead to change. It’s always good to see things through the eyes of someone else
