A MESSAGE FROM JOHN CHRISTNER Well, what a spring we’ve been having! Storms have been a problem across the nation and Oklahoma was directly in the line of fire! We did actually get hit by an EF1 tornado at the Sapulpa yard. Fortunately, there was no one hurt, and the property damage was fairly minimal. Many of our friends and family members have been impacted by both tornado damage and historic flooding throughout the state. It is a busy time in Sapulpa as we have begun a large equipment replacement cycle which is always disruptive, but with patience and cooperation among all of our associates, we know we can get through as smoothly as possible. The market continues to be strange to say the least and we’re looking forward to what the summer produce season brings our way. Let’s keep the lines of communication open and continue to be the well oiled machine our customers have come to expect! One last thing, Safety Director John Mallory has been named the Truckload Carriers Association 2019 Clare C. Casey award winner acknowledging him as the TCA’s Safety Professional of the Year. We are very proud of John and agree with TCA that he is certainly deserving of the honor! Be well!

W H A T E V E R I T TA K E S Keith Sally nominates Laura Watkins for the June “Whatever It Takes” award Keith said, “Laura Watkins is truly dedicated to helping a driver understand the business side of truck ownership. She literally drives their truck from behind her desk. She is strong in knowledge and has a way to execute it (tells it as it is). Drivers seem to appreciate that when the dust settles. Her love for the driver and them being successful is real and in the end we all benefit.” Laura will be honored with a trophy, a “Whatever It Takes” designated parking space in front of the building, and a $50 QuikTrip gas card. She will also have the honor of naming next month’s “Whatever It Takes” winner.

JE R RY B RU NKH U R ST’S RETIREMEN T Keith Sally said, “Ol Jerry Brunkhurt, another driver (one of the best) retiring from the trucking industry. His CDL expires this month and he will not renew it. He’s been associated with JCT for many years, always showing loyalty to the work he loved and JCT. It’s been a pleasure for me to work along side Jerry for so many years. Jerry has
been the Oklahoma City/Tulsa city driver for quite some time now. I asked who would replace him and was told,“ you can’t replace Jerry. No one would do what he did. He was available 24/7.” I hate to see him leave and he will no doubt be missed but I understand retirement is part of life for most. We surely hope the best to him.”
Laura Watkins added, “Jerry is a humble driver and a true moss back driver. He is one of those “I just run the loads and get the job done and that’s it.“ Jerry was always nice and friendly. I will always remember that smile and his sense of humor. He will be missed at JCT.” Thanks for your years at JCT, Jerry!
