Each Monday, The Chronicle's Bay Area section will profile a new candidate for the Visionary title.

These 13 nominee’s were selected by a committee of 6 including Anne Wilson, Chief officer of United Way Bay Area, Daniel Luri, founder of poverty fighting organization Tipping Point, Ronnie Lott, the 49ers Hall of Fame cornerback, Zhan Li, dean of business school at Saint Mary’s and Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and chair of Emerson Collective and wife of Apple icon Steve Jobs.
