Hearst Bay Area was created to be a voice for the sales representatives at the San Francisco Chronicle. Previously, sales reps had many stories, talking with potential clients and presenting themselves as an employee of The Chronicle, SFGATE, 46Mile, Hearst Media Services, Hearst New York, etc. Hearst Bay Area was created to get our Sales reps in the door with the name Hearst, but giving them one story and having a portfolio of products and advertising opportunites. The brand was created to be simple, match the style of The Chronicle and Hearst brands, but approach the market with a fresh and contemporary aesthetic. Thus, the logo features the Hearst brand typeface, as well as The Chronicleâ€™s primary marketing typeface, Gotham.
