I

recently had a fashion epiphany and it was inspired by Club. A couple of months ago, my deputy editor, Vanessa, interviewed the inspirational Caryn Franklin of howtolookgood.com – the expert of all experts on how to dress for your body shape. I read the article with interest but didn’t take it further than that. Then, a couple of weeks ago, an online shopping spree went horribly wrong and I landed up with a pair of jeans I couldn’t even squeeze my big toe (let alone a leg) into and a cocoon-shaped coat that drowned my whole frame. Hugely annoyed with myself, I googled Caryn’s website, downloaded the free e-book and settled down to read it. Wow! It was amazing to realise I’d been buying clothes to satisfy an emotional impulse rather than as a functional tool. As a result, I have set aside my trendy must-buys for my daughters (they will thank me one day) and now my wardrobe only contains a mix ‘n’ match ensemble of clothes that truly fit and flatter my body. Funnily enough, I don’t miss what I’ve no longer got. Plus, I’m enjoying slowly adding new items to my cupboard. I hope this season is as satisfying for you from a style perspective and, as always, I hope that Club has something to do with it. Happy shopping!
