The Guidance team at ADAM SMITH are a friendly bunch who are committed and determined to support students with a variety of issues. They are affable and approachable and are involved in many aspects of the college’s initiatives, procedures and programmes. They are here to help.

Guidance:  offer a specialist service for more complex issues – where CHs refer individuals  acts as an advisory liaison to CHs in named institutions.  have access to external guidance related agencies: Careers Scotland CAB Penumbra – mental health Trading Standards – debt counselling Counselling agencies eg-KASP, CRUISE & OHSAS  Chaplaincy     

 Support Disciplinary Hearings to ensure fairness and equity across the college

The Guidance Service provides:  An impartial advice service for preentry at open events (external & internal).  An induction service to inform and support students.  A self-referral / staff referral provision for students with:  Personal issues  Welfare issues  Financial matters  Health matters  Educational concerns

Guidance Team implement Staff awareness raising sessions on:  Child protection  Disciplinary procedures  Missue of drugs and alcohol  Induction processes  UCAS references and procedures  Guidance produce materials and resources on a variety of issues and perform a counter signatory role for disclosure documents

Guidance organises and implements workshops to support students with:  The UCAS process  UCAS personal Statements  Mock interviews for groups  CV preparations  Interview techniques  Working abroad
