Living in Venice on a foreign exchange initially inspired me.I enjoyed painting the light reflection and sketching the unusual void space. I particularly enjoyed the ran down rustic buildings on the outskirts of the city rather
rather than the main attractions of the centre. This means I take my sketchbook anywhere I have the chance. I believe that you can learn more about a place or piece of architecture by sketching light sections, ground plane sections etc and details. This helps me to break down the Architects design process. I recently found this approach rewarding on trips to Berlin and Rome. I particularly enjoy Aldo Rossi’s writings of the spatial Framework of memory and I believe Architecture should be approached in a way that promotes collective memory. This approach should be taken in to account in the improvement of existing infrastructure instead of starting from scratch. I also enjoy going to as many exhibitions as possible. I have recently visited the Sensing spaces exhibition in London. I believe exhibitions are the best way to Inspire and broaden your horizon. Getting away from the studio can be refreshing as you can become “tunnel visioned.” Sustainability is a key aim in my design approach and we as architects have a duty of care to our environment. I believe that if you can produce something aesthetically pleasing whilst balancing function with minimal material and energy output it will define great design. This can only be produced by keeping up with current affairs by reading journals, visiting exhibitions and keeping up with technical movements. I love travelling and embracing new cultures. I climb the 14 Peak Mountain Challenger in North Wales every year in a weekend without sleep. The event is in aid of Motor-neurone disease as a close family friend as been diagnosed with the shattering disease. This has taught me determination and opened my mind to new challenges. I like to keep healthy by eating well and Playing 5 aside football and going to the gym three times a week is also keen interest. I believe a healthy body is a healthy mind. I have played for a local football team for 4 years in the Cheshire league for Irby Athletic FC. I eventually moved up to captain winning the Sunday echo cup and our
league in 11/12. I believe I have the qualities that you are looking for. I tick all the boxes. I am confident, with a professional manner that helps when communicating with clients or the general public. I am creative and will give you innovative ideas that will stick out from the crowd. I have a hard working ethic and I strive to be the best I can be at everything I do. I am competitive yet I have the ability to listen and be open minded, I can take a step back and analyse the situation. I am determined to put my creative stamp on this world and i will always be willing to learn. Many thanks for taking time out of you’re busy schedule to read my resume. I will look forward to hearing from you in the not too distant future.
