This project focuses on the Tiber River as a site to implement physical connections for residents and visitors. The proposal is both a building and a bridge that uses the historic river to encourage recreational activity along the Tiber at the existing Ponte Giuseppe Mazzini and revitalize the adjoining neighborhoods.

While gaining familiarity with the city and the culture, a series of transect exercises presented the challenge of turning research, observation, and personal experience into graphic representations.

This studio placed an emphasis on testing various graphic representations and techniques as tools for pushing concept development. The final project is a spa addition to an existing cabin in a wooded site adjacent to Puget Sound. The envisioned idea is a raised walkway through the woods leading to a secluded space among the trees. The spa is both a physical destination and a personal immersion in nature.

This studio prescribed the use of consistent modular units to develop a housing complex within a suburban setting. The underlying concept was to manipulate the preconceived banality of modular units to create enjoyable indoor and outdoor spaces for living. A driving idea behind the project was interweaving both private and community exterior spaces to accommodate the typical suburban lifestyle in a dense arrangement.

Model-making and project specific details were both used as design strategies to develop tectonic understandings of the project and link conceptual ideas with physical materials and construction assemblies. The project focuses on using different exterior materials and physical enclosures to identify private and public spaces in correlation with the main concept.

Located within the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, this site is uniquely sandwiched between Cal Anderson Park and bustling Broadway Avenue. The project itself is a recreation center that uses its location to its advantage merging free-flowing interior and exterior space within a simple gridded steel structure conceptualized as the transition point between park and city.

This studio prescribed a group urban design layout of an arts school campus and an individual building design with a specific art program. As a group we decided upon an interconnected alleyway to link and focus the buildings around. The strategy gives the campus a primary circulation route while also involving the surrounding Lower Queen Anne neighborhood with additional housing, retail, and marketplaces open to the public. The Digital Arts School includes student classrooms and workspaces organized around a central courtyard and maker space as well as social gathering spaces focused towards the alley. The core idea was to provide students with dedicated learning spaces while also inviting the public and fellow students by linking the courtyard and the alley.
