charging bench Location: Student Plaza in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (behind bus stop) Purpose: Allows students to charge their mobile devices and laptops while waiting for the bus Concept: Cozy, inviting space and seating to provide students with ease of charging personal devices.

This project was primarily focused on the presentation board: the artistic mediums we used to express our ideas and the layout of our boards. I used watercolour to bring out the texture and colour of the wood, and marker pens of different thicknesses to enhance it the lines. Voted by fellow classmates as “Most buildable.

abstract pavilion based on poem: nothing gold can stay Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.

DE pavilion group project

My group and I worked together and designed a study space equipped with foldable tables and benches to be placed on a hill beside our school block. Our design was chosen out of four groups and we are pleased and grateful to have seen this project come to life. The DE Pavilion is a study project under etc lab in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of DE.

sanaga school (school of stories) What started off as a kindergarten studio project eventually turned into a real life building. My concept of having a school where both the young and the old can mingle and learn from one another got chosen amongst my peers, and with the help of some of my classmates and lecturers, this vision managed to come to life in March 2018 where we embarked on building the School of Stories with the community of Kampung Naga. The material shown on this page reflect my initial proposal.

School of Stories Kindergarten+

How might we... ensure that the history and tradtion of Kampung Naga is passed down the generations and kept to its truest form? History and tradition are the essence of Kampung Naga. The elderly living in Kampung Naga live simple, wholesome lives, but they worry about the future of their village, fearing that the slow increase of modernisation might reconstruct the values of their sacred Kampung in future. With this in mind, i intend to solve this issue by bridging the gap between the young and the old through stories. This way, the old interact and share their knowledge with the young, and the young learn from the old through interactive and engaging ways.

Story-telling/roleplay features -Story-telling circle, grand steps, cubby holes and benches for reading. -Performance stage with sloped timber steps for seating. -Backstage area for practice

Sustainability design features:

- Open roof allowing light to illuminate level 2 classroom - Building orientated according wind flow and sun path i. Cross Ventilation ii. Performance area is shaded when being used in the evenings after school

gather Based on the word “Gather, I had to create programmes and a form that would subconsciouslly cause people to gather or congregate in different ways.

I decided on a round floor plan as i felt that gathering tied in with being surrounded, thus by placing programmes along the circumferences of each floor plan, people would find themselves surrounded by programmes catering to all kinds of people. Having no sharp edges or corners would also create a more unified and comfortable environment.

The Shift

ISSUE

Music and Dance are components of culture. Having activties like this in Chinatown add so much character and personality to Chinatown, but sadly they do not have proper spaces to letloose and express themselves creatively. Could we Change this?

This building aims to bring back the vibrant culture of Chinatown by enlivening it with Music and Dance.

Could we bring back the Vibrancy of Chinatown?
