Our program is built on talented athletes who have the drive and desire to be the very best. We work year in and year out to win the CAA conference title and to compete in the NCAA tournament. • Hired as JMU’s head coach on January 25, 2010 • Came to Harrisonburg after three years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Kentucky • 22-8 career record and 10-4 in CAA play • 2010 CAA co-Coach of the Year • 2010 VaSID State Coach of the Year • Identified in 2009 and 2010 by the AVCA as one of the “30 best coaches in the country under the age of 30” • Helped Kentucky improve its record in each of her three seasons there • While at Kentucky, the Wildcats went 77-21 overall and 47-13 in the SEC • Landed the 13th-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2009 • Played four seasons of volleyball and two seasons of basketball at Georgia Tech • Led the Yellow Jackets to the NCAA Championships all four years during her career, including trips to the quarterfinals in 2003 and the round of 16 in 2004 • Won two ACC regular season championships (2003, 2004) and one ACC tournament (2002) • AVCA honorable mention All-American in 2003 • All-ACC in 2002 and 2003 and ACC Rookie of the Year in 2001 • ACC Honor Roll and Georgia Tech Dean’s List student • Ranks second in GT history in solo blocks, fifth in kills, fifth in kills per set, eighth in total blocks and ninth in block assists • Spent a year playing professionally in Almeria, Spain

Assistant Coach Second Season Ball State ’02 (B.A), Dallas ’03 (M.S.) • Joined JMU’s staff January 2010 • Previously served as an assistant coach at Georgetown College in Kentucky • Supervised individual training and served as the recruiting coordinator for the Tigers • Helped lead Georgetown to a 45-4 record and a national NAIA runner-up finish. • Was a middle hitter on Ball State’s club team from 1998-2002 • Honorable mention all-conference selection in 2002

• Joined JMU’s staff in March of 2010 • Joins the Dukes following seven seasons as head coach at Kishwaukee College in Illinois • Led Kishwaukee to three straight National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II national championships • Went 321-47 in seven seasons with the Kougars. • Two-time NJCAA National Coach of the Year • Coached 14 First Team All-Americans, 12 First Team Academic All-Americans and seven AVCA first team All-Americans

Hopefully be accepted to grad school for physical training or potentially medical school.

Why did you choose JMU? I chose JMU because when I came on my visit it really felt like home. The coaches and players were all so welcoming and the school was great. Even if I didn’t play a sport I’d still want to attend the school. That’s how I knew it was the right one for me.

Tradition Kate Fuchs holds six of JMU’s eight career and season blocks records, including total blocks and block average.
The Dukes won the CAA championship in their first season under Disa Garner in 2000.
Allyson Halls ranks among the JMU career leaders in kills, blocks, and hitting percentage. She was a three-time All-CAA and All-State selection and an AVCA All-Region selection in 2006.
Lauren Miles, a three-time All-CAA honoree, holds JMU’s assist average record at 11.38 assists per set and ranks second in total assists with 4,178. 2011 JMU Volleyball - 17
Tradition Jena Pierson holds the JMU and CAA career digs record with 2,189 and also ranks among the NCAA career leaders. College Volleyball Update named her one of the top five liberos in the nation in 2006 and 2007 and made her a First Team Stellar Spiker in 2007 as one of the top 14 players in the nation.
Lindsay Collingwood (96-99) owns six career records at JMU, including kills and aces.
JMU captured its first CAA championship in 1999.
Dana Jones (00-03) was a three-time All-CAA honoree and ranks in the top five in career kills, kill average, attempts, hitting percentage, blocks, and aces.
Karla Gessler (97-00) is the program’s only four-time First Team All-CAA selection. She also holds the career attack percentage record of .342. 2011 JMU Volleyball - 18
Tradition
Lindsay Callahan was a First Team AllCAA selection in 2010. She finished her career ranked second in program history in attack attempts, third in kills, fourth in sets played, fifth in kills per set and eighth in digs. She is one of three players all-time with 1,300+ kills and 900+ digs. Sandy Heinbach (l) and Debi Griffith (r) display the 1984 ECAC South championship trophy.
Krysta Cannon, JMU’s all-time assists leader, was CAA CoRookie of the Year in 2002.
Debbie Prince (92-95) was a three-time All-CAA pick and played in more games than any other JMU player with 494.
