Combine the sugar, eggs, jello, vanilla and shortening, then stir in the other ingredients. Roll the dough into balls, 3/4 inch in diameter, and put them on a pair of ungreased cookie trays, 3 inches apart. Flatten each one with the bottom of a glass, which you have first dipped in sugar.
