REAL LIFE CONCEPTS In a working atmosphere, it was considered important in the studies at NAIT to embrace the ability to display ideas in a way that would speak to all, even those who would not necessarily understand a technical drawing. Renderings prove helpful in this problem and can be completed through Sketchup and AutoDesk Revit Rendering.

DYNAMIC THINKING Designing a residency for future NAIT Students proved a taxing endeavour in which the entire project was at the decision of the student. Sketchup, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and Revit were tools involved in creating a space that would fit appropriately with the student atmosphere. The overall goal in this specific interpretation of what a student demanded from a residency was the concept of a dynamic place where the technological identity of NAIT coincided with its connecting dorms, yet still created an escape for students to avoid “bringing work home and to retreat into a creative space for the mind to rest.

Using the skills acquired in AuoCAD proved helpful in the areas of personal endeavours and expansion beyond NAIT studies. Shown are some informal drawings done on the AutoCAD Program that were based off plot plans, presenting an idea to a client so that the respective Landscaping Companies could give a tangible visual idea to a proposed quote and price. Although NAIT Architectural Technology does not study site and landscaping in the same depth, it deemed helpful to take the studies and skills that had been presented to create new things for the working world.

NETWORKING WITH ATB The process of designing a bank for a community that thrives upon entrepreneurship and creative minds that involves determination to make every criteria be filled. A wide demographic including urban and rural settings creates a unique opportunity for a building to reflect the people of the area. Grande Prairie is the perfect scenario for the concept of a building that embraces the idea of “network. This was the goal of this project, completed in programs like AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup.

ALL ABOUT PROCESS NAIT’s teaching methods in shining a spotlight on the idea of design as a process and not design as a product is one that is extremely important. Shown here in the Sketchup program is the gradual development of a floorplan and eventually massing in order to embrace the concept word “Network.”

CREATING SOMETHING REAL The ATB Financial Bank proved to be an extensive program because every facet of a potential project was analyzed and assessed. It was a real life scenario that was applicable to an office because there was nothing that was not thought of.

NAIT demanded the exploration of both commercial and residential construction in order to broaden the students’ scopes of work and to allow the student to understand the different fields of work that are available to the students of the program. In the residential field, AutoCAD was used to create a custom home for a client based on a list of criteria and demands. 2x6 Plumbing Wall

SELF EXPLORATION The passion to create must go beyond the demand of a client or of school. A creative mind truly blossoms when further studies are taken beyond the workspace or classroom and these works exemplify this concept. Displayed here include works done with acrylic paint, charcoal, pencils of various hardness and ink.

ART AS AN ESCAPE Taking passion into the workplace is a serious philosophy to live successful by. Art into Architectural work is a branch of that philosophy that can be considered one of the most important due to their proximity. Shown here are pencil works and acrylic paint.

CREATING FOREVER HOMES Freelance work expands beyond architecture in the use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and AutoCAD to bring logos into the world in various medias. Works done include large scale wall stickers and banners, to jerseys and hoodies for various companies such as sports teams, non-profit local organizations, and contracting companies.
