“el ranchito” is a slum located in the city of monterrey, mexico. during a 4 week period i was part of the workshop “recconecting people and place” where in collaboration with a group of students from melbourne university designed and built several gathering points for the community and with the community.

a shelter located in the woods near â€œlos liriosâ€? with a multipurpose tower capable of collecting rainwater for its self-sufficiency.

to commemorate the centenary and bicentenary of the mexican independence and revolution, an interactive park capable of changing its form to adapt to different programs is proposed in the heart of monterrey city with the quality of attracting people from different parts of the city to celebrate the anniversary of the nation.

located in front of san pedroâ€™s central plaza, the community center opens itself to it by adding urban space and a commercial strip for self-sustainability the scheme is composed by a central patio where workshops, classrooms, restaurants, and library converge.

the design of a new â€œdamâ€? prototype being able to articulate both sides of the river, retain water exceeds and produce energy.
the form of the bridge is a response to the interaction between the three different programmatic axis. the user has the opportunity to circulate on a single programmatic axis or to vary its way shifting paths along the run.

water & energy
to prevent flooding, a water treatment plant along the riverside annex to the bridge, retains water excess and purifies it using the same energy the tower provides.
the tower not only functions as the main structural support. It holds two water turbines that feed tenosique of renewable energy.
standing beside riverside cities, the bridge functions as a machine not only at producing valuable and vital resources but as a social and economical detonator to the city.
TOKYO fashion museum
sound and images make movies the best way to tell a story. afterimage is the name given to the group of phenomenons that generate movement between still images. conceptualizing the film strip to the history of fashion, icons take place in the frames and the genesis of these fill up the succession between them.

to generate a link between two icons: - establish a height and area percentage to rule the resulting space .
grasshopper definition where height and area percentage is manipulated
to create a natural flow between icons: - repeat step1 spiraling around the corners.
to generate variations between floor slabs: - add one slab on every intersection between mezzanines and vertical circulations.
iterate the final definition manipulating height and area percentage until ideal slope and volume result in program, structure and formal needs.

the museographic journey is interrupted by the museum’s complementary program breaking the monotony produced by the shifts between fashion icons and its genesis. The user has the opportunity to enjoy the diverse commodities the tower gives along its length.
a skin system was developed trough programmatic needs. The use of white glass in the galleries creates a translucid effect without damaging the garments, and a transparent glass that is able to project images is used in the transition spaces to enhance the users appreciation of the genesis.

this new vertical museum typology offers the expectator to continue a free flow throughout time getting a perspective not only of the detail of every decade, but of the genesis that lead to each masterpiece
prototype X 58
the concept of prototype x is to socially regenerate the city by creating an equilibrium and interdependence between the users. This prototype aims for the city to be completely independent from the outside world and extremely dependent from the inside, where peopleâ€™s aptitudes are enhanced to produce labor effectiveness and at the same time to fulfill the necessities of others.
to make this social regeneration work, punctual detonators are needed, where values are added to existing ones creating a reaction to produce compact nodes with mixed programs that have an attached correlation.
to know the location and spatial relationships between these nodes, an investigation of natural sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology was applied analyzing different behaviors resulting on an ideal urban system. After an extensive research, the chemical reaction of effervescence was adopted because of its great advantage to iterate using the tablet form, as well because it covered the urban intentions of the project, such as chain connection, active and static spaces etc.

bubble - voronoi relation
the bubbleâ€™s perimeter is determined by the radial force the air creates inside of it. When two bubbles with the same pressure interact with each other without joining, their limit is right in between them, just as the voronoi tessellation creates equidistant lines between the desired points.

actual streets with conexions
green Axis fields
the main existing streets are prolonged through the inner city flowing along the voronoi path making them the primary roads. along with the primary roads, a another street is added that runs trough the site in a perpendicular way, working as a principal distributor along the inner-city.
secondary streets link the main ones to the nodes, most of them being underground in order to reach the parking system below. a tram runs longitudinally along the site with stops located at strategic points between nodes, ending at the existing metro stop in â€œMaderoâ€? steet.
static spaces read in the experiment turn into a green axis that flows inbetween the nodes articulating them to boost cycling and walking. streets are buried at diverse sections to keep the green axis free from traffic noise and air poluttion. colorlines represent ways running along level zero. the rest of the voronoi network is proposed as pedestrian to promote coexistance between the users.
