Developing the Witherill buidling to current codes while retaining its historic features. A restaurnt on the first floor and a lounge on the top floor, the building is a full of surprises and non-stop excitement. The experience will be similar to when people receive an unexpected gift: surprising, curious, and joyful. Some spaces will be hidden from some view points and some spaces will follow the Tatami module.

The main concept of this project is a pearl inside a seashell. The interior and exterior of the store will be bright and shine everyday and night. The key design of the store is a spiral staircase and tall partitions surrounding the staircase. The stair case is hidden by multiple layers of partitions. This will arouse curiosity and shoppers will walk inside a store to see a hidden pearl (the staircase) and will find other pearls spread through out the store (merchandise).

headstart

To provide the users of a Dryden Headstart facility with design solutions that enhance and improve the existing learning environment for children. Headstart is a government-funded, early childhood learning center. Children are aged between 2.5 to 5 years old from low income families.

My group dealt with transition spaces to provide a set of ideal design solutions as well as a series of products/environments that could be installed in the existing facilities. The vestibule area functions as a signing area for parents, a waiting area for a restroom, and a gallery area of children’s work.

CONCEPT To create an environment which uses hospitality design features including: -Dramatic lightings -Luxurious materials -Articulated walls -High contrast finishes These features will transform patient’s perception of more traditional healthcare interior. This facility will serve the patient in providing hope and comfort, encouraging patients to feel special.

WALL SCONCE The luxurious women’s healthcare centre adds its luxurious with its unique wall sonces. The wall sonce’s dark mahogany wood creates a harmony with wood partitions, doors, reception desk, hand rails, and other details in the healthcare centre. The combination of a rectangular shape and angles also can be seen in many areas in the facility; espeically in the waiting area and corridor. The wall sconce distributes light through the mirros on its sides. The mirrors also reveals the brass mesh behind the front wood. This will catch patients’ eyes and bring them to see themselves through the mirror with the bright light and golden color mesh.
