Check that the flow of saline appears straight and focused and uniform when it leaves the orifice. If it is deformed in any way Jetox is defective. Close all taps and replace.

1. Check that the spike in the saline bag is inserted correctly and that the other end of the tube is inserted properly into Jetox. Do not force it. 2. Make sure that the saline tubing clamp is open. 3. Check the gas pressure at the main valve. If the pressure is not between 4 - 6 atmospheres (60 - 90 psi) liquid will not come out. If after these two tests only gas comes out Jetox is defective. Close all taps and replace.

Close the main oxygen supply and make sure that the oxygen connection to Jetox is correct and fully closed. It should be closed firmly but not tightly. Open the main oxygen supply. If gas continues to escape Jetox is defective. Close all taps and replace.

Note: Size, degree of infection, placement, and skill of the therapist effect the length of the treatment.

The average length of Jetox treatment of a simple wound of two square centimeters (threequarters inch square) lasts between two to three minutes.

Jetox™ is designed for effective cleansing and debridement of pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds and burns. Jetox creates a jet stream from sterile saline and compressed medical oxygen. The drops are between 5 to 200 microns in size and are accelerated up to 200 meters (660 feet) per second. The jet stream creates low pressure on the wound.

1. Turn on the main oxygen supply. 2. Bring Jetox to the wound such that the outer opening of the shield touches the treated area. 3. Open the Jetox knob completely. 4. Do not push Jetox towards the wound so that the inner lips of the shield touch the wound.

Note: Make sure that the wound is dry before beginning treatment.

Starting Treatment

5. Remove vented cap and connect the spike to the saline bag. 6. Open the saline tubing clamp. 7. Place the shield on the nozzle. Jetox is designed such that the valve controls only the flow of oxygen, and the saline is drawn by the action of the gas. There is no need to hang the saline solution above the level of Jetox. It is best to place the saline bag on the same level (or slightly higher) that Jetox will be working. In this way you will avoid saline dripping through Jetox by gravitation when it is not in use.

Note: The oxygen pressure should be 4 - 6 atmospheres (60 - 90 psi).

1. Make sure that Jetox valve is closed. 2. Screw male oxygen luer to female luer. Do not force. 3. Connect luer slip to female saline connector. 4. Connect oxygen xmas connector to oxygen source (cylinder or hospital oxygen outlet).

The optimal angle for work is 90° to the wound. You can also work at an angle of 70° to 80° by taking advantage of the flexibility of the shield.

In order to examine the wound during treatment turn off Jetox and move it aside. The flexibility of the shield allows you to give treatment in the entire area covered with the shield without having to remove Jetox from the wound.

The transparency of the shield allows you to monitor the process of cleaning continually.

On a flat wound you can work horizontally to the wound without a break.

The active area of the cone of jet sprayed saline is 2 millimeters (0.078”) in diameter. The most effective distance for treatment is 4 millimeters (5/32”) between the Jetox opening and treated area. The shield is designed to maintain the optimum treatment distance.
