The 12 Months of Motiv8 2022

January New Year, New Motiv8tion! As we started our 6th and final year of delivery, we received this great feedback from one of our JCP referrers...

HELPING PEOPLE TO GET BACK ON TRACK

February This month we signed up our 5,000th client to Motiv8! Thank you to our admin team, our partners, stakeholders, funders and all our colleagues who work so hard to deliver the service.

March Maria - one of our participants - shared her Motiv8 journey in the first Manchester Athena podcast ‘Talent Is Everywhere’. She said, "I was living in fear... And then I called their number." Watch her full story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=z3L8eJ0dY7I

"Thank you so much for supporting our claimant; his confidence, motivation and general quality of life has clearly improved since you have been working with him."

April This month we held a conference to discuss how we support GM's hidden unemployed. We heard from a wide-range of speakers, including Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council. The three key words from the day were: Connect, Collaborate, Create! Find out more on the link below: https://youtu.be/YYBGHM9siZI

May Dave Frith, our Lottery Funding Officer visited us in May to meet some of our clients and to hear their Motiv8 stories first-hand. Every journey is different as support is tailored to each individual's needs. He was moved by their challenges and the support they had received. Motiv8 is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund

June Sustainability is a key theme for us at Motiv8. It was World Environment Day during June and we highlighted the great tree planting work with the Woodland Trust by our Bolton hub colleagues. There was also some carpooling from some of our colleagues too. Martine said: “Car sharing is not only a great way to help our environment, but it's also a great way to start the day, especially if you're singing Diana Ross! #carpoolkaraoke.”

July A key project aim of Motiv8 is to provide support to those underrepresented in the labour market. Over the lifetime of the project we have supported: 1440 people who are over 50 4725 people with a disability 905 people from an ethnic minority

August The Opportunity and Health Fair at Tameside Job Centre is just one of the many events attended by our Employability and Development teams to highlight pathways into Motiv8 and beyond. It was a great networking opportunity and we also met Moose, the King Charles Spaniel therapy dog from Noah’s Art!

September Digital inclusion is so important for our participants. Our own Digitalisation Fund, set up in 2021, provided: 141 laptops, 11 smartphones, 4 tablets and 48 data packages It means a lot. 58% of the recipients who received digital support have moved into work, training or job searching.

"My keyworker was so easy to talk to and she phoned me every week to see how I was. Through her help I am now doing an IT course and Motiv8 has even provided me with a laptop to do my work - which I could never afford. My confidence has has grown and I am now actively looking for work!"

October This month we stopped taking referrals to the programme. Our funding ends in March 2023 and all participants on programme will be supported until then. If participants have not completed their Motiv8 journey by that date, we will support them to access another agency that can take them forward. Since the programme went live in 2017, we have supported 5978 people, helping them overcome challenges and move forward with their lives.

November In November we held a workshop with some of our Motiv8 participants to get their feedback about the service and what it has meant to them.

'They really listened' 'The staff genuinely care and the support evolves as you go along' 'I was frightened... but they lifted the fog'

We were also 'highly commended' at the national ERSA Employability Awards for 'Community Partnership of the Year' - a fantastic testament to the great partnership work across all our delivery hubs.

December Finally, on behalf of everyone at Motiv8, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
