Headline: Free agricultural inputs given to farmers of Dir Upper to boost crop production. Peshawar: In order to improve the poor socio-economic status of small growers, the district administration of Dir Upper distributed free agricultural inputs including certified Onion and Maize seeds and fertilizers among small growers of the district. This intervention would help restore livelihood of poor and small growers as well as boost up crop productivity in the region. A press release issued by Malakand Development Program (MDP) stated that two separate inputs distribution ceremonies were held at Model Farm Services Center in Dir Upper organized by Malakand Development Program. District Development Officer MDP Mushtaq Ahmad, Agriculture Officer Parvaiz Khan, Agriculture experts and farmers were present in large number on the occasion. Around 1200 farmers registered with Farm Services Center (FSC) Dir Upper were given improved Onion seeds while 1000 registered farmers get certified Maize seeds and quality DAP fertilizers in the ceremony. Agriculture experts formally handed over agricultural inputs to the farmers hailing from different parts of the district. On one hand the move would help revive livelihood opportunities for many while on the other hand it will improve agriculture production in the district. Addressing to the farmers the agriculture experts stressed upon the growers to utilize the inputs properly and act upon the suggestions of Agriculture department to achieve the desired goals. The farmers were also given a special training on proper cultivation and getting better crops productivity. The farmers thanked and appreciated the efforts of district administration and hoped that this endeavor would help restored their livelihood and agriculture sector in the area.
