Forest City Academic Work Duration: Two Weeks The structure of the tower was form by stacking of floors, and each floor is shifted horizontally to create spaces for garden and patios. This project is named Forest City because it breaks the traditional condo design and make trees and greenery possible on each floor. Every home has a garden balcony just like a backyard. The shape of structure mimics the mountain range, shifting in a dynamic rhythm. The idea of the project is to bring nature back to our urban living space.

Lakeshore City Market Academic Work (2018 Fall) Individual Project from ARC1011 Duration: Six Weeks This project aims to design a urban market which not only provides a leisure market shopping experience, it also become an iconic structure in the neighborhood. The structure is visible for both the fast moving cars on the road and also the surrounding high-rise residential. The roof structure is an important part of the project because it can be seen from the surrounding high-rise condos. This project requires us to create a roof structure by populating a single cell. In this case, I created a pedal like cell and join them using the method of folding ribbon. Therefore, the entire roof structure looks like two folding flowers. I used white concrete as the roof material to distinguish the proposed city market from its surroudings that mostly is brick structure in order to achieve its iconic image.

Reimagination of Bloor Go Station Academic Work Revised Project from ARC314 Collaborate with Xinting Fan Duration: Semester-long Our urban concept is to combine a second hand market with the current Bloor Go Station on Bloor St West in order to revitalize the commercial industries in the surrounding neighbourhoods. Bloor street is a commercial artery of the city, however many of the stores on the west side are struggling, because of the low density of the neighbourhood and limited pedestrian flow. According to the statistics from city of Toronto, the annual household income of the neighborhoods near the Bloor Go Station is lower than the east side Bloor street. Therefore, we believe that placing a new second hand market on Bloor Street will attract more pedestrian flow to the site and provide more affordable options to the surrounding residents.

Golden Mile Academic Work (2019 Fall) Individual Project from SuperStudio Duration: Two Weeks This exercise requires us to design an urban scheme by first gleaning ideas, strategies, and building/landscape morphologies from a given precedents, and then deploy the ideas and patterns gleaned from the precedent on a new, Toronto-based site. By learning from the Hageneiland Housing by MVRDV, I transposed the housing pattern and its relationship between private space and collective space on to the Golden Mile. Ten building typologies were developed to provide different living styles with different levels of collective green spaces.

Alpha Palace Academic Work Revised Individual Project from ARC201 Duration: Three Weeks This project is using the same building method as Lego by creating new base objects and put them together to form an abstract living space. The base pattern was transformed from alphabet into a usable spacial unit. The alpha palace consists of different structures such as theatre, water fountain, loggia etc. Inspired by the dreaming experience from sleeping, we could experience different levels of surrealism without the effect of gravity and logic. Between different scenes there is no transition. The Alpha Palace is designed in a way to recreate the spatial experience in dreaming.
