The research

For this project, I went to the library looking for a book that talks about William Morris and the Kelmscott press. Fortunately I found one book abour the subject, but that book is under the special collection at the library so it was impossible to get any picture scan or check out the book. I talk to the secretary and she let me took some pictures with my phone. Then I went to the library website to look for information about the craft and art movement, luckily I found some articles with information and I look online for some information too.

n 1981, Morris founded the kelmscott press. In there they produced high quality hand printed books that today they are considered pieces of art. In his studio they designed the borders, created the typefaces, and the title pages which were based in medieval art style. Although Morris looked to the past for his inspirations he used modern ideas and layouts for his books. The kelmscott press published 53 titles, but the press was never a financial successful because his books were too expensive to sell. However the kelmscott press inspired a revival of quality and beautiful items around the world. Morris and the kelmscott press influenced the development of typography and graphic design in the early 20TH century.

for the final design I used some elements that I think William morris would used for some of his books. The ornaments I decided to draw it by hand and scanned. I try to do something more elegant for my design that is why a basic my layout in some of the books that the kelmscott press printed, I used a similar typeface that they used.
