2018 VIKINGS FOOTBALL A message from our Athletic Director, Jacob Anderson Welcome to another exciting year of Lanier Vikings Athletics! I am very proud to be a part of such a committed and dynamic group of coaches and student-athletes, who put representing their school with pride, respect and responsibility at the core of their programs. At Lanier HS, we see the athletic playing field as an extension of the classroom and take great pride in our responsibility to ensure that our student-athletes are fully prepared to enter college or the 21st Century workforce as leaders. The Athletic Department has set high standards for our student athletes, both in the classroom and in competition. Those high standards are reflected in our newly revised Athletic Mission Statement and in our continual pursuit of discipline, sportsmanship, and athletic achievement. I would like to personally thank you for your support and commitment to Viking Athletics. I look forward to continuing to grow the traditions of the past and building on our recent success as we work together to make Viking Athletics a model for others to follow. Go Viks!

LANIER ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT MISSION Our unified mission is to develop studentathletes who will perform successfully in the classroom and compete at the championship level in every sport in compliance with UIL and AISD rules. We will operate under an administrative structure managed in an open and supportive manner, supporting equitable opportunity for all students and staff, and committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct. The Lanier HS Athletic Department will follow three basic principles: to promote the well-being of student participants; to attain and maintain competitive excellence; and to support the overall goals of the Lanier HS community.

The goals of Lanier HS Athletics are to: • Graduate every student-athlete who participates in athletics at Lanier HS ready for the demands of the 21st century in college or career • Create an environment that fosters mutual respect, integrity, quality, and a commitment to excellence, through competitive sport programs that instill the lifelong values of teamwork, leadership, and sports manship • Provide an environment conducive to positive growth and development of student-athletes and all Athletic Department staff • Provide adequate financial support through private and community support within the department to ensure continuing development of each sport program • Comply fully with all UIL and AISD regulations
