play, Mercer erased a nine-point Furman advantage to take a 75-62 victory in Saturday afternoon’s women’s basketball game. The non-conference game was held at Timmons Arena in Greenville S.C. PLAYER OF THE WEEK(S) - Ford’s 13 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists against Charleston Southern garnered her A-Sun Player of the Week honors for the opening week of the season. This past week Ford again secured the award for her 26 point and 17 rebound performance against Furman.

match up marks the conference opener for both Lipscomb and Mercer. Mercer is 1-8 in conference openers dating back to the 2000-01 season. Last season, Mercer went 12-8 in conference play, marking the first time since the 2003-04 season the team posted a winning record in league action.
