Step Up to CONNECT to a group Stephen Ministry Information Session TODAY, October 21, 8:45 am or 12:10 pm, Parlor (below the Narthex) Do you have the gifts of compassion and a listening ear? Then Stephen Ministry may be a good fit for you. Stephen Ministers are trained lay people who offer one-on-one, confidential Christian care for those who are going through difficult times. A new class of Stephen Ministers is forming and will begin training in January. Step Up to Connect Part-time Paid Position Available BUMC has a great opportunity for someone with a flexible evening and weekend schedule. The maintenance department needs an “on call” staff member to work a maximum of 15 hours weekly. We hope you can join us for this relaxing, rejuvenating class. Our instructor suggests no eating 30 prior to class. Divorce Recovery October 24–December 5; Wednesdays, 6-8 pm; Singles Area Cost $30. Support and encouragement for those adjusting to life after divorce. Transparenting November 17, 10 am - 2 pm;Singles Area; Cost: $25. Divorcing, separating, and never-married parents will learn ways to minimize the negative impact of divorce or separation on children. Thanksgiving Dinner November 16, 6:30 – 9:30 pm, Singles space Cost: $5 and food item (see below). The church will provide turkey, ham, bread, and drinks. This is for ALL the coordinators for the different classes or small groups who will be hosting Room In The Inn this season. 2012 Turkey Trot, Thanksgiving Day Held at D1 Sports Training in Franklin, November 22. Benefits Graceworks Ministries. This annual family-focused event includes a certified 5K Walk/ Run and Kid’s Fun Run. BUMC group rate: $20/person ages 7 & older and $10 per child age 6 & under. Register at thru Nov.1. Room in the Inn, a ministry to homeless men, will begin in November. Donations of Mens only blue jeans in good condition, warm coats, sweaters, and NEW socks and underwear are needed. NO suits, ties or dress clothes of any kind. Donation bins are in the Chapel Narthex and 2 Monthly Coordinators needed. Contact Scott Gardner at Men of Valor, a faith based prison ministry, needs male mentor volunteers once a week for one hour. Harvest Hands is a catalyst for Christ-centered, wholistic community development working alongside our neighbors to further healthy living, education, spiritual formation and economic development in South Nashville Monday Lunch Volunteers Individuals needed to help with community lunches held at Harvest Hands one Monday a month. Volunteers provide a passing dish as well as serve and fellowship with community members and staff. Passing dishes needed even if you can’t attend.
