BROUGHT TO YOU BY:
WELCOME
Rosh Hashanah is one of the many Jewish holidays that calls for a celebratory meal. As we begin the new year, it is in our tradition to eat simanim (symbolic foods), say blessings, and make wishes for the year ahead
While Rosh Hashanah Seders are more typically celebrated in Sephardi and Mizrahi homes, more Jews from around the world are starting to incorporate this practice into their New Year celebrations This year, we want to invite folks preparing a Rosh Hashanah Seder to do so Latin style. In this guide, we will introduce the traditional simanim, their corresponding blessings, a traditional Latin American recipe that features the symbolic food, and reflection questions and exercises to help you best prepare for the new year
Carefully crafted to engage your senses, heart and mind this resource is embodied Latin-Jewish learning, feeling and joy.
With love and blessings, The Jewtina y Co. team
BIENVENIDOS

WHERE DID THIS YEAR TAKE ME?
This reflective exercise below provides us with snapshots about the past cycle of time that can offer us invaluable lessons for now and the year to come
Imagining from your drivers seat: what was a ‘move’ you made that supported your goals or needs along the road this past year?
Consider decisions around your self care, choices in your professional life or lifestyle decisions.
And in this mirror, we ask: What were some blindspots we became aware of during our decision making this year?
Reflect on what you learned through relationships, work, or health.
The metaphor of the car is a powerful one for it shows us that our reflective practice is something we can engage in while we’re living through the year and course correct as needed May this exercise serve your reflection

Visioning Exercise
Imagine your ideal life from a place of feeling.
How do you want to feel on a daily basis?
Or while in communal or work spaces? How about in relationships?
What does health in your body feel like to you?
What kind of environment supports you best?
Who supports you? And who are you supporting?
SEEDS & SOIL: AN ACTIVITY FOR CHILDREN
We love Rosh HaShanah because we have this special time to think about how we want to grow in the new year...and not just how we’ll get taller, but how we want to grow in our minds and hearts too.
Imagine you are like a flower growing in the ground. And what do flowers need to grow? Water, sunlight, and of course, good soil - this is where it all begins! So, let’s think back on all the things we did this past year that supported us in growing into beautiful flowers What do you think made your soil full of growing power this year? If our soil is something that nourishes us, were there people or activities that helped you feel brave? or confident?
Now that we learned about what makes our soil strong, let’s think about the new seeds we want to plant for the new year! What are some hopes, dreams or wishes that you have for yourself this year? This is a good place to dream about the ways you want to keep growing in school, with your friends or family, or in your favorite hobbies.
