DESIGN STUDIO PROJECTS

Martial Arts Cultural Centre year location

01

2018 New Bridge Road, beside Kong Chow Cultural Centre

Our given site was between two buildings, one modern building- Jean Yip Loft and the other a very old and historic building rich in culture, Kong Chow Cultural Centre. This Martial Arts Cultural Centre aims to celebrate and showcase Martial Arts to the community and people walking past. I chose Martial Arts as a plus programme because it teaches about value and morals such as discipline, respect, perseverance, etc which us as the younger generation can really learn. The architectural language I used is extrusions and intrusions, by looking at the character of the Martial Art, I extruded the space if the martial art is more strong and bold, and intruded the space where the martial art is more elegant and calm. So by looking at the character of the martial art, I came up with my building’s form.

The School of Arts year location

02

2018 Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya, Indonesia

This project aims to design a kindergarten that celebrates the arts, such as music and art. The rich tradition and culture makes this village and community so special and i wanted to preserve this and celebrate it at the same time to ensure that the younger generation are familiar with their roots.

2018

location

Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya, Indonesia

collaboration

Jodie Teresa Monterio, Lee Zhuo Yao, Mr Raja Faizul

The project was based on a village in Indonesia, and the aim was to design a kindergarten that allows the elders to share stories with the younger generation to ensure their culture and tradition gets preserved and celebrated. This project was a Youth Expedition Project (YEP) in conjunction with Etc. Lab, a design company based in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This project is currently under construction now.

In Progress:

04

“Fabricate” year

2018

This was a Primer Project for our third year project and the project brief was to design a building that caters to the community and we were given a verb each, and mine was “Fabricate”. So my concept was to fabricate bonds through the learning of different cultures and traditions of the community.

2017 Lee Zhuo Yao, Amanda Loh, Felicia Tan, Hana Kong, Wilfred Teo

For our Architectural Materials and Technology project, our group were tasked to design a shelter around our school for students to use. We came up with the Hammock House with full length hammocks for students to rest and lie down after a long day in school.

Post Production year

07

2017

By using SKetchUp and Vray, I rendered this existing school and for post production work, I used Photoshop to add the background, people and effects to make the render a lot more realistic.

Architectonics & Biomorphism year collaboration

08

2017 Gabriel Quintana, Ally Tan, Ham Yi Teng, Clifford Tan

This project was aimed to extract geometric forms from bio-organisms. From there our group came up with a triangular module using cardboard, and we constructed our entire 1:1 scale model using cardboard.

Gangouroubouro Primary School year

Our assignment was to find an existing school that was already built and render it by ourselves using Revit.
