NEW PRODUCTS Dry Shampoo:

Who needs dry shampoo anyway? Dry shampoo is for the day you woke up late and have enough time to shower, but not to wash, blow dry and style your hair. Dry shampoo is the newest thing on the market to let you go an extra day or two without having to wash your hair. Sounds too good to be true? Well, be our guest and read through some of these reviews from Bella readers everywhere.

Kierra from Massachusetts writes: “I tried the Oscar Blanti Pronto Dry Shampoo and was really impressed. Normally I have to wash myhair every third day and this dry shampoo allowed me to go an extra day without weighing down the rest of my hair. A must have product for any on-the-go girl!” Lauren from San Diego writes: “I decided to give the Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract a try and I found it really helped me. I read up on the Oat Extract and it helps absorb extra oil that is built up in your hair naturally. Tis was a great product for me as I have especially sensitive skin.” Sarah from Miami writes: “Well Florida is the worst place to be around this time of the year, and I was skeptical to even try this product, but I am happy to tell you that it worked! Suave Dry Shampoo worked wonders on my normally greasy scalp.”

THE BASICS

The simple, five minute approach to all things beauty

The best thing that you can always remember when doing your makeup is: can I achieve the basics? If you can, you are in luck because then you can begin to branch out and experiment with different looks. But to begin, let’s start with the basics. The best kind of face in makeup is the one that looks the most natural. Sure, having a million MAC eyeshadows sounds fun, and girls who don’t know anything about makeup will be super impressed by your $14 a piece eyeshadow that isn’t highly pigmented, but to those who do know a little something about the world of cosmetics, they will tell you it isn’t worth it. Being yourself is the key to the best makeup application because when you look and feel the most beautiful is when you look and feel like yourself. First, lets go over what the basics entail, and then we can get into achieving the basic look in five minutes max.

Step 1 (Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer): Their is nothing better then feeling that you have flawless skin. Now, some have old acne scars, others have pigmentation from spending years in the sun unprotected, but with a little foundation or tinted moisturizer you can fake your flawless skin in under a minute. My favorite look for summer is throwing on a tinted moisturizer because it’s nice and lightweight and usually has a little SPF. Best part, you use your finger to apply, just like your regular moisturizer. Want more coverage? Use a liquid based foundation (they don’t clog your pores as much) and rub foundation onto face. Then, use your foundation brush with soft synthetic bristles to buff out any lines that may have been created by your fingers. This gives you the most polished finish with any foundation. Using your makeup tools properly are just as important as using the makeup itself! Step 2 (Blush): So many women are terrified of blush because they don’t want to look like those little old ladies with bright pink cheeks and bright pink lips to match. Do not fret, blush is actually your key to having a fresh and healthy glow. Easy as can be, sweep blush across cheeks, starting at the apples of the cheeks and blending back into the hairline. You do not want to see where your blush starts and stops, because it is suppossed to look like a natural flush of color. Voila, flawless skin, and a healthy glow, you are almost ready to hit the red carpet.

Step 3 (Eyeliner): Eyeliner is something that seems to be intimidating to a lot of makeup newbies. But really it is just a matter of practicing to get the straight line we all wish to achieve. Whether it is a kohl pencil, a powder, a liquid, or gel liner, the trick is to get as close to the mirror as possible without poking yourself in the eyeball with your tool, and lining as close to the lash line as possible. The closer you get to the lash line the more your eyes will “pop.” The second thing to remember is that a thick line of eyeliner makes lashes look longer because it alludes that your lashes begin where your dark line of eyeliner begins as well. Once you nail that straight line, start experimenting, there is nothing sexier then a winged or cat-eyed liner.

Once you mastered these basics steps, let their be no limit to your imagination. The key to rocking any look is CONFIDENCE. If you want to try a bold lipstick, try it! The only person stopping you is yourself. The worst that could happen is that someone doesn’t like it and then you convinve yourself you don’t like it. But, it’s all a matter of perspective. You should be able to wing your eyeliner and wear red lips if you want to. And if someone judges you... who cares. No one should take themselves that seriously. Peace, love, and makeup.

Step 4 (Mascara): Lashes, lashes, lashes! If there was only one beauty product I could take to a deserted island it would be mascara. Putting mascara on lashes is like giving your eyes a lift. It says, “Hi, look at me! I’m awake and feeling pretty!” The key to good mascara application is starting at the root so that you do not weigh your lashes down. Tilt head slightly backward and glance down into the mirror. Use your mascara wand to grab the lash at the root and twirl upward. That’s right, twirl. twirling your wand will make each lash grab onto the product. For the boldest, look-at-me lashes use a volumizing mascara and appl 2-3 coats.
