Directors study: Technologies used: Google-for searching the music directors, I also used Google images for finding a photo of my choice of music director. YouTube-For watching videos that my music video director had directed. I took screenshots of these videos. The positives and negatives of the technologies that I used:

Positives: It’s easy to use and usually works quite quickly, so you can find what you are looking for. Negatives: I had to most of the time use internet explorer then search for Google rather than just going on Google chrome as I had a few problems with using slide share, Prezi and my blog when using Google chrome

Positives: There are lots of music videos and other media products that you can take inspiration from, and as long as you know what you are searching for it’s helpful. Moreover there are existing A2 media music videos available to watch so you can compare yours to what other people have done. Negatives: You don’t know what grades other peoples work is. If you’re not sure what you are looking for like the name of a song then you probably will not find that music video. Positives: It is quite easy to use and creates effective products quickly. Negatives: Photoshop means that virtually anybody can now create media products on Photoshop and not just media professionals. Another negative is that you have to make sure you have clicked on the right layer before editing it as if not you could end up editing another layer which means you may have to restart.

Positives: It creates excellent quality video footage and you can take photos with it using a variety of settings. It is quite simple to use. Negatives: As it’s easy to use this means anyone can use it to create music videos and other media products. One more negative is that some of the cameras I used did not work properly, so this delayed my filming, moreover you have to make sure that the white balance and other settings are appropriate before you start filming as otherwise the footage may come out dark etc.


Positives: It’s easy to edit and upload the music and the video footage. Negatives: At the start of my music video I have used photos for the time lapse, this caused me problems as the rest of my music video is video footage, so we had to play around with the settings until premier pro accepted both the video footage and photos.

Positives: Facebook allows you to connect with people all over the world including bands, celebrities etc. I used Facebook to connect to my band and this process was simple and quick without a cost. All I had to do was find their Facebook page. Negatives: Anyone can create Facebook pages and as the band that I got the music from is quite unknown that means their page isn’t verified so there is a chance I sent a message to someone who is not the band. Moreover, the band did not reply to my Facebook message.

Positives: Survey monkey allows you to post a survey onto Facebook so people can answer it quickly and you can get feedback from a range of people about your media products. Negatives: When I posted this to Facebook not many people answered my survey so it was ineffective. Furthermore, you are not absolutely sure whether the people answering your survey are your target audience or not.

Positives: Its quick to use and it allows you to upload physical copies of things to upload to the computer. Negatives: You have to make sure that you are logged into the right computer that is connected to the scanner and there were only a few available to use.


Positives: It’s easy to use and you can put a range or photos on it with an explanation. Negatives: You can’t put the document straight onto blogger, you have to send it to slide share first.

Positives: It allows you to upload PowerPoint documents onto blogger. Negatives: It doesn’t work so well when you use Google chrome.

Positives: It allows you to search for unknown music artists and bands and download their music for free. Negatives: It can take a while to find the music you are looking for so you have to remember the name of the band or the name of the song so you can find the same song again.

I uploaded all my coursework to Blogger. Positives: This means all my coursework is in one place and is easier to find. You can insert labels to the posts so all my research and planning is in one place etc. Negatives: If there is a technical difficulty or fault then as I do not have a physical copy of all my coursework then it could be lost. Positives: I created my first evaluation question using this site as it is creative and you can include photos and text. It is quite easy to embed prezi onto blogger. Negatives: At first I found this site quite confusing to use.

Positives: It’s creative and easy to use. Negatives: You have to save your document as a pdf file otherwise the document is jumbled up.
