Meet Brenda Carter, Celina Campus Executive Dean The new Collin College Celina Campus opens this fall, providing greater access to higher education for not only Celina but all of northwestern Collin County. Registration is now open and fall classes start on Aug. 23. Brenda Carter, Celina Campus’ executive dean, has been with Collin College for 16 years, serving as the dean of academic affairs at the McKinney Campus before coming to Celina. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science in Educational Psychology and is currently working on her educational doctorate in higher education. Continued on next page.
COLLIN COLLEGE She said she and her team are excited and looking forward to welcoming students to the Celina Campus this fall. A conversation with her about the new campus is below. Why did you become interested in education? My mother installed in me the value of an education. I watched her move from a high school dropout to a licensed nurse. It showed me how education can change one’s life. I wanted to provide educational opportunities so others could enhance their life and their families. What excites you the most about the Celina Campus? I am truly excited that the Celina Campus has been welcomed with open arms by the communities it serves. I am also excited by the quality educational opportunities it will provide for the northwestern sector of Collin College, one of the fastest growing sectors of Collin County.
What should students and the community know about the campus and its offerings? First, we are your campus with a highly qualified faculty and staff. Collin College emphasizes being a part of the community, and the Celina Campus will continue that tradition. We offer a variety of both academic and workforce courses, leading to transfer opportunities or immediate employment. What programs will be available at the new Celina Campus? The campus will offer a variety of academic transfer courses as well as workforce programs including Business Management, Construction Management, Information Technology and health sciences. There will also be Continuing Education classes available. Is there an office where questions can be answered about the Celina Campus and its academic offerings? The Celina Campus will utilize a one-stop shop concept where students can move seamlessly from application to enrollment. The one-stop shop includes the offices of admissions, advising including assistance with class registration, testing, the cashier, and financial aid. Please contact Associate Dean of Student and Enrollment Services, Pamela Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org. How can people contact you? My email address is email@example.com and my office number is (469) 905-3571.
Apply and register now! Fall classes start August 23.
