MAY 2013

Dear Friends, Let me begin this month’s message with a big thank you to all of our members who have steadfastly supported this station—especially over the last few months. I’m happy to report that your calls of support and online donations helped us reach our fundraising goals in March—keeping PBS39 strong during these challenging times. Last month’s Great Online and On-Air auction was also a great success. (And I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank all of our local radio personalities who lent a hand as “celebrity auctioneers!”)

Bugging Hitler’s Soldiers

ADDITIONAL EPISODES Speaking of success, I’m excited to announce that we received more than 15,000 photos for consideration in the Capture Greater Lehigh Valley photo book. Editors are making their final selections for the book right now. Order a copy for yourself and join us on June 5 at The Baum School of Art for the book release party. Finally, the great programming continues this Spring with all new Secrets of the Dead, Scott and Bailey, and Masterpiece Classic. As always, please let us know what you think. You are the “public” in public television, and we couldn’t deliver these one-of-a-kind programs without your support. “Together We Can Be more”

Timothy S. Fallon CEO, PBS39

Part detective story, part true-life drama, SECRETS OF THE DEAD explores some of the most iconic moments in history to debunk myths and shed new light on past events. Using the latest investigative techniques, forensic science and historical examination to unearth new evidence, the series shatters accepted wisdom, challenges prevailing ideas, overturns existing hypotheses, spotlights forgotten mysteries and ultimately rewrites history. In the first epsiode, Bugging Hitler’s Soldier’s, learn how 4,000 German POWs revealed their inner thoughts about the Third Reich and let slip military secrets that helped the Allies win WWII. Airs Tuesdays at 10:00pm and 11:00pm beginning May 7th.
