Rocklin Academy Schools Continue with Highest Test Scores in Region Rocklin Academy Turnstone and Rocklin Academy Meyers are the Highest Performing Schools in the Greater Placer/Sacramento Area with APIs of 963 and 956 Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Scores an 893 API in its second year According to results released today by the California Department of Education, Rocklin Academy Turnstone Way and Rocklin Academy Meyers Street campuses earned Academic Performance Index (API) scores of 963 and 956 --the highest APIs of all schools in Placer, Sacramento, El Dorado, and Yolo Counties. A public charter school, Rocklin Academy at Turnstone Way continues as the highest-scoring school in Rocklin for the last ten years and the highest-scoring school in Placer County for the last six years. Rocklin Academy students are also among the highest-scoring students statewide. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy also scored very well, with an API of 893, making it one of the highestscoring middle/high schools in Placer County and surrounding counties. This is a 21 point increase, an outstanding accomplishment for a school that was only in its second year. The Rocklin Academy family of charter schools includes the K-6 Turnstone campus, Rocklin Academy Meyers Street campus, and Western Sierra Collegiate Academy (Western Sierra), a middle/high school founded in 2009 by Rocklin Academy families. Western Sierra provides students with a challenging and comprehensive college preparatory education in a small, public school setting. “We are excited for Rocklin Academy and Western Sierra students. Our students perform well because our Core Knowledge and middle/high school curriculum reaches far beyond English and math,” said David Patterson, Rocklin Academy Superintendent. “We also have phenomenal teachers who are here because they love teaching and the curriculum. Add in our dedicated parent base with families who form a partnership with our schools, and the benefit is test results that are outstanding every year.” Rocklin Academy’s API score comes from the results of last spring’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. API scores measure academic performance and track school progress based on statewide assessments.

Authorized under the Charter School Act of 1992 and chartered by the Rocklin Unified School District, Rocklin Academy Turnstone and Meyers campuses are tuition-free public elementary schools open to all students. Rocklin Academy is the first public school in the greater Sacramento area to offer the nationally-recognized Core Knowledge curriculum. The Meyers campus also offers families an extended day Kindergarten program. In August 2009, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy opened in Rocklin, continuing the tradition of excellence in education by offering college preparatory classes open to all students. WSCA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and currently serves students in seventh through 11th grades and will expand to 12th grade by 2012. ###  Rocklin Academy Turnstone: 6532 Turnstone Way, Rocklin CA 95765 P.
