Writing and publishing a book about the history of Jerrol’s using the details written down from my grandparents, Don and Irene, and the various writings from my father Jerry, has been a dream of mine for over 13 years. From time to time I would put a few things down in a word document, interview my grandparents or father for a month or two, and then get caught up in something else. I don’t suppose that has ever happened to you?

This year I finally decided to apply some discipline and determination to get it completed. I set myself a goal of having something to hand out by Jerrol’s anniversary on June 21st. I just barely made it - but I made it. We handed out over 100 copies of the uncorrected galley proof of The Unfinished History of Jerrol’s Book & Office Supply Co. - From Ice Cream and Pies to Office Supplies: How adapting to change has allowed a small town soda fountain to evolve & prosper for three generations.

2014 Calendars are NOW Available We are not sure what happened to 2013, but if you are like us you are probably already planning and making appointments for 2014!! You can order your 2014 calendars right now and start off next year right—organized and in control. Well it sounds good and it is far enough away we can say stuff like that right?!?

Your response and enthusiasm toward the book kept me going and last month the first edition was finally published and made available for sale. As I look back on it, the project is really 66 years in the making, but all it took to finish it was some commitment on my part. We all have a project that we want to complete, not because we have to, but because we want to. These often get put on the back burner and tug at us from time to time yet never seem to quite get done. You can do it. Just start. Don’t think about the whole thing, just do it one page at a time, baby step by baby step. No need to think about everything it is going to take. Every project begins with page one, then page two. Life is short. Make your dreams happen. Go do it. -Rolf

And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly improved.

Cats and Dogs The following is from the book “Charisma. The Art of Relationships. Understanding the “cats” and “dogs” in our lives – an analogy” By Michael Grinder

Dead Sea Scrolls Poem It is reported that the following part of the Book of Genesis was discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls. If authentic, it would shed light on the question, “Where do pets come from?”

And Adam said, “Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked with me everyday. Now I do not see you anymore. I am lonesome here and it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me.” And God said, “No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you so that you will know I love you, even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish and childish and unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourself.”

Back To School = No More Fun? “Does that mean we are not going to be able to go camping anymore?” Those were the words out of my boys’ mouths when I told them that it was almost time to head back to school. They were both shocked that the summer was already coming to an end. Tyler will be going into first grade this Jessica Bacon year and Jacob into 4th. Both of the boys have Business Help Desk many adventures ahead for the upcoming school year. This will be Tyler’s first year of attending school all day. He told me he was looking forward to seeing all of his

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and he wagged his tail. And Adam said, “But Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and all the good names are taken and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.” And God said, “No problem! Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.” And Dog lived with Adam and was a companion to him and loved him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog was content and wagged his tail. After a while, it came to pass that Adam’s guardian angel came to the Lord and said, “Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He struts and preens like a peacock and he believes he is worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but no one had taught him humility.” And the Lord said, “No problem! I will create for him a companion who will be with him forever and who will see him as he is. The companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he is not always worthy of adoration.” And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And Cat would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat’s eyes, he was reminded that he was not the Supreme Being. And Adam learned humility.

friends and having tons of recesses. He is also excited be playing basketball and wrestling again. Jacob is currently finishing up his first year in 4-H. He raised 2 hogs to show at the county fair. What a great learning experience this has been for him. Jacob is also excited to head back to school and see all of the friends who are in the same class as him. He too will be playing basketball and wrestling. I reassured the boys that just because school is starting and summer is coming to an end that we would have many more camping trips to follow. -Jessica Jessica can be reached at (509) 925-9851 Or

Never Be Out of Toner Again!

Knudson Lumber

You and your team rely on your printers every day for the reports and information that help run your business. It is so frustrating to be unable to print!

So you order extra toner, and someone uses it with out telling you, or you hide one away for emergencies only to find it missing when you really need it. Perhaps you walk around checking each printer’s toner in an effort to keep them printing.

Started by Carl Knudson, Knudson Lumber was originally a lumber mill located in Kittitas. Carl’s first businesses began as convenience store and gas station in Puyallup. Over time it grew to include a lumberyard and walk in freezer manufacturing. During World War II Carl couldn't find enough lumber for his mill in Western Washington so he bought an existing mill near Kittitas. In 1947 he became the sold owner and named the business Carl Knudson Lumber. Material from the Kittitas store was used in the first and second Jerrol’s building. We still have the original contract between Carl Knudson and our founder, Don Williams. The Kittitas lumber yard burnt down in 1958 and Carl moved the lumberyard to their present location at 1791 Vantage HiWay. This was close to the railroad and the main road between Seattle and Spokane. Three generations later it is owned and operated by Bob Knudson and his wife Cindy. Their daughter Renee Kraft also works in the business making it third and fourth generations running the business. Today they offer a full service lumberyard and hardware store with delivery throughout Kittitas County and beyond. They are affiliated with the Do It Best buying group. You can reach them at (509) 962-9811,, or their website at

All of this can be a thing of the past when you have us remotely monitor you printers ink levels for you. We will make sure you NEVER find yourself unable to print. Using a simple piece of software that we install for you, our help desk monitors the levels of toner of all your printers and will automatically send you more when they get low. One less thing to spend your time worrying about. Contact the Business Help Desk at or 925-9851 / 800 858-2427 to get started.

Corrie’s Craft of The Month

Glitterful This project is so easy and very fun. Dip your paintbrush in mod podge and paint a design on something that needs some sparkle. Sprinkle some glitter on top, tap off the extra and let dry.(I also used a second layer of mod podge over the top) Carefully wrap important ends of electronic cords with tape before applying glue or glitter.
