Colorado has seven water courts, one in each of the major river basins. They are a division of district court. Water court has exclusive jurisdiction over water rights, usage and litigation. There are no jury trials and all appeals are filed directly with the Colorado Supreme Court.

State of Colorado

District courts handle felony criminal matters, civil claims (in any amount), juvenile matters, probate, mental health, divorce and water cases. Municipal Courts have jurisdiction over violations of city provisions and ordinances.
