Ute Pass Region

Ute Pass is an inviting gateway to the natural wonders of the Rocky Mountains. The Ute Indians used the pass to get from the mountains to the plains. It was later used by the Midland Railroad to access the Cripple Creek gold fields. Today, Ute Pass is the path used by Colorado Springs residents and visitors to experience the Teller County wilderness and those who seek a different type of lifestyle.

Casino gambling is the new “source” of gold. Happily, Cripple Creek casinos do not overwhelm the community as they have been integrated into the old west gold town look of Cripple Creek. Besides the casinos, families can enjoy re-enactments of old west gunfights, museums and mine tours, a number of theater groups and the ever present artist colony.
