This artisans home serves as both residence and workshop for a skilled potter in the revived Cincinnati neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine. Designed to compliment the 19th Century Italianate architecture characteristic of the historic neighborhood, this home has a potters studio at its base, a residence above, and a contemporary ornate top.(FormZ/AutoCAD)

This film editor’s studio is designed as a complimentary addition to Richard Neutra’s Kaufman House in Palm Springs, CA. Its expansive curves and towering height is a good contrast to the sprawling rectilinear vacation home. The large curved wall of the addition borrows from the home’s original design, where the northwestern most wall acts as a barrier to protect the rest of the home from the harsh winds of sandstorms. The Creative Arts Center at Wright State University was built in 1973 and, in 1990, was signiďŹ cantly expanded. The CAC is home to the departments of Theater, Music, and Art. Our comprehensive studio was charged with creating a more cohesive and open building that is inviting and easier to navigate, promoting interaction and exposure of each department. (REVIT)

GERMAN VILLAGE

AREA PLAN: DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS

2

My thesis proposes to locate a new train station for the Ohio Hub in Franklinton instead of below the Columbus Convention Center, a densly populated area just North of Downtown. Relocating the station across the river in the Franklinton neighborhood can offer a boost of activity that the dying neighborhood so desperately needs. It is a veritable blank slate, offering plenty of room for expansion and existing rail rights of way. The Franklinton Station is designed with the intent of making the presence and excitement of passenger rail known to the passerby rather than concealing it under the Convention Center. This station is designed under the assumption that the Ohio Hub and various commuter rail line proposals are fully realized, not only connecting Downtown with its surrounding neighborhoods and suburbs, but also connecting the Central Ohio region with other regions such as Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, and Pittsburgh. the station is designed for ease of flow for both passengers and trains. Passengers are offered two main entries, the West entry for Amtrak patrons, the East entry for commuter rail patrons. North/South rail Lines are elevated above East/West rails lines in an effort to prevent congestion caused by intersecting rail lines. Shops, office space and a 500 room hotel are located right off the main concourse of the train station , providing passengers and visitors direct access to the amenities they need. The maintenance facility is an opperating center for the grounds keeping sta of Fallingwater. The design uses natural materials and design concepts borrowed from Frank Lloyd Wright and local vernaculars.
