Where it is used? Throughout the project in order to present our work to the examiners. To give examples of existing music videos that we gathered inspiration from, and analysing them. To present our Initial Ideas pitch and feedback To upload our final music video, enabling everyone to access it.

Throughout the project.

Flip Camera

Panasonic DV Camera

Successful/ Why it is used? Unsuccessful ? To help keep track of where I am up to (task wise) and also a way of presenting all the work I have done. Quick and easy way to present work as well as researching existing music videos for inspiration.

In order to convert Microsoft word documents and Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations accessible online.

We used the Flip cameras to film our Initial Ideas Presentations and also the feedback we received straight after, from the rest of the class, as well as the teacher. To film our entire music video

Was successful in keeping all my work in order as well as keeping track of what I had done so far. It also enabled me and my partner to see what we had changed during the production stage. It was successful with researching existing music videos. It was also successful when giving and receiving feedback for the music videos. The videos being on YouTube enabled us to share the videos over Social Networking sites for other people’s opinions too.

Overall using Issuu was successful as my documents were eventually published. However, sometimes it would change my typography once uploaded and also takes a considerable amount of time when it’s a PowerPoint Presentation. This was successful as we could watch our presentations and feedback over again and make changes. The only problem we had with them was to stop recording sometimes.

This was successful as it is a handheld camera and we are already familiar with them from our preliminary tasks. However, on the final outcome, some of the shots we had filmed in the park were very blurry, so it doesn’t adjust well to darker light levels.

We used this by connecting each leg of the tripod to each side of the Dolly. This enabled us to create steady movement in the studio shots.

This was successful in the fact we wanted steady movement in our shots. However, as we used this in the studio, we found that it was too big for the space we had, and people kept tripping over it or our movement was limited.

Like the Dolly, this helped keep the camerawork steady. This also kept shots consistent at the same angle and height.

This was very successful as my partner and I tended to have shaky hands due to the cold weather conditions. This kept the shots consistent and they were easy to change angles without any effort.

Green Screen

We used this for the photo shoot for the ancillary Products. This was to create a professional look and to enable us to manipulate the background/lighting on the final outcome.

This was quite successful as we could change the colour of the background for the Magazine advert and Digipak. It also enabled us to keep a professional look for the Bonus Poster’s Polaroid pictures.

Throughout all stages of the project, especially PostProduction

The programme “Final Express” is on the i-Mac, which enabled us to edit our music videos.

The i-Macs were successful in editing our music video. However, I did not enjoy working with them as I find them overly complicated to use. They also decide to cut out suddenly which meant we had to constantly save our work, just in case. Using remote access was also extremely slow and irritating.

MS PowerPoint

Pre-Production & Evaluation

MS Word

Throughout all stages of the Project.

Using Microsoft PowerPoint was an easy way to present my Initial Ideas presentation as a mood board of all my thoughts. It also helped present lots of information in a visually appealing manner. We used this for the call sheets to show when we did any type of filming or photography.

It was successful in presenting my ideas to the group. However some typography and pictures I used did not appear the same, once I uploaded it onto This meant it didn’t look how I intended it to be at times.

This was quick and easy, as I am used to Microsoft Word. The only issue I had was uploading it onto Issuu sometimes, as it took time to do so.

Production stage

To create both the Digipak and the Magazine Advert as this was the easiest programme. We also used Fireworks to edit some photographs as it is easier than Photoshop. We used this alongside the green screen for the boys photo shoot. These photographs were used for the Magazine Advert and the Digipak as well as the Bonus Poster. This was to make the boys stand out and to also eliminate any shadows on the background. This allowed us to take good quality photographs of the boys during the photo shoot. I also used the camera to take photographs of all the typography I had drawn up, to then upload onto the computer.

It was successful and easier to use than Photoshop. The more I used it, the more I found shortcuts and found it easier to get things done. There were some moments where it would freeze, which was rather annoying.

This was successful as the photographs came out really well. There were no difficulties with this as they were easy to use and put away.

Production and Post Production

This was in order to gain feedback from friends and family, of the final music video.

This was successful as we received a wide variety of feedback for our music video. Some was positive, but some was also critical, and we also got people’s opinions of the photographs from the photo shoot.

Production and Post Production

This was in order to gain feedback from friends and family, of the final music video.

This was also successful as people “Retweeted” the music video if they liked it, encouraging people who didn’t even know me, to watch the video.

This was successful as the cameras are really easy to use and produce good quality photographs.

Final Cut Express

Production and Post Production

Pre Production

Survey Monkey

To edit the video footage.

We used this to gather feedback of the music video concept before making it.

I personally did not like using Final Cut Express as I had just got used to using i-Movie. It was however quite successful and I’m lucky that my partner had grasped it quicker than I had. Sometimes, it didn’t save work properly which was quite annoying, and meant we had to re-do work we had already done. This was successful in the fact the feedback we received from it was positive, enabling us to go ahead with out ideas.

This website was useful in finding “Ambush Creep” as they had copyright free music.

His was successful as we gained permission from the band before we went on to make the music video with their song.

This was to enable constant communication between my partner and I, due to us being in different classes. We also used BBM to keep in contact with our actors on the days they had to film. The Blackberry is also used in our music video with shots of Sarah.

BBM services were generally good with keeping everyone in contact, however the service was very slow, which meant at times the actors would come later than we had asked, or they wouldn’t bring the equipment asked, as they had already left by the time we had sent the message. The shots we used of Sarah on her phone, through the music video was successful as it connotes how young people are obsessed with technology.

Production and Post Production

Used to screen shot certain images for Blog posts. Also used when Fireworks would not edit photographs as I had wanted.

Very successful when other programmes started to annoy me. Paint is very basic and was easy to complete difficult tasks. For example, editing out the background on one of the images used on the Digipak.

To create an effect for the photos on the Bonus Poster.

I downloaded the application which was very quick and simple. The effect was successful as it was a cheat way of having rather professional photographs at no cost.
