WELCOME Welcome to Early Childhood Family Education! Here at Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, we pride ourselves on being a destination for outstanding education, innovation and collaboration. And we know that with you as your child’s most important teacher, Dr. Teri Staloch, Superintendent education begins at home. Our ECFE Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools staff is here to support you and help strengthen families by offering a wide range of opportunities for children ages birth to kindergarten. November, 2017 Referendum This is a time of unprecedented growth in our district. New housing developments, combined with families moving into existing homes within our boundaries, can be attributed to our largest increases in student enrollment growth. Because of this growth, the School Board accepted a 50-member Facilities Task Force’s recommendations for long-term facilities planning to help with our space needs. The Board is now planning for a November referendum. Our hope is that – as parents of our youngest learners – you will stay engaged with us throughout this planning process.   Learn More You can find more information on our website: www.priorlakesavage.k12.mn.us/growth and on social media: facebook. com/PLSAS, twitter.com/isd719 and @isd719 on Instagram.   Our mission to educate all learners—including our youngest—and give them a great first impression of school. We know you will find a program that is right for you and your early learner!

Coordinator’s Corner Rebecca Richardson, Early Learning Coordinator

Hello and welcome to Prior Lake-Savage Area School’s Early Childhood Programming!

As we begin the 2017-18 school year, I’d like to share some exciting changes we have made to our ECFE programming options. Based upon participant experience, feedback and input from our fantastic Advisory Council this year we: • Added year-long class options. • Will reserve one spot per class for families new to our ECFE program. • Created a Lunch Bunch extension class for Circle of Friends Preschool morning students. • Will refund families new to our program for their very first ECFE class. This is no longer limited to infant classes. • Included ECFE Schedules-At-A-Glance for the whole school year. Winter/Spring schedules are subject to change based upon fall enrollment.

As we look to the future, PLSAS has embarked on a long-term plan to ensure we have space for our growing student population at Edgewood and in all of our schools. Did you know that all schools in our district are either at or over capacity? 2,165 additional students are expected to enter our schools in the next ten years. This is more than the total combined enrollment of Glendale, Jeffers Pond, Five Hawks and Grainwood elementaries! As the School Board plans for a November referendum to address our needs, I encourage all Early Learning families to learn more and stay engaged. Watch for emails and newsletters with the latest information this fall that will directly impact early childhood families. We are thankful to partner with you, your child’s most important teacher, to educate your little learners to reach their full potential as contributing and productive members of our ever-changing global community. All the best, Becca

WHAT’S NEW IN THE DISTRICT?

WHAT’S NEW IN ECFE?

Join in the fun! • E-STEM Explore • Caregiver Connection • Time with My Toddler • Giggle Groove & Grow Little Lakers Club Lunch Bunch Two’s Year Long Preschool Express Year Long Parenting A-Z Year Long

Based upon previous parent feedback and our fantastic Advisory Council, we: • Added year-long class options. • Will reserve one spot per class for families new to our ECFE program. • Created a Lunch Bunch extension class for Edgewood’s Circle of Friends Preschool morning students. • Will refund families new to our program for their very first ECFE class. This is no longer limited to infant classes. • Included ECFE Schedules-At-A-Glance for the whole school year. Winter/Spring schedules are subject to change based upon fall enrollment.
