customized for its use, but mained elegance and inconspicuous presence. The contrasting wooden floor and bits of furniture make sure the space will still always feel warm and welcoming. The closet housing the smart home electronics was designed with a pattern perforation (inlaid with brass, for detail see front page), to provide air intake while keeping the machinery invisible. 2

The design for the competition for a "water sculpture" on the main boulevard in the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana, was created together with architects Mojca Kocbek and Primož Boršič. The sculpture, resembling a water supply pipe ripped out of the ground and twisted around, reminds the passers-by that the abundance of clean drinking water is a basic element of every prosperous city. The kinks of the fountain guide views and attract attention from all sides, create space around the water stream and allow for seating. The jury also appreciated how well the colour, size, positioning and material fit the surrounding modern buildings as well as the overall style of the main street.

▪▪ Appartment building Pisárky The appartment building renovation was designed for the Tomáš Dvořák architekti l.t.d. studio and the aim was to enlarge and occupy an unused attic space with a mezonet appartment and subdivide and renovate flats in the three floors below. A new staircase body was put up in place of the old one to allow access to the attic space, however the original design with walls consisting of crude concrete panels was later dropped to preserve the historical atmosphere of the area. The construction works were finished in 2016.

While working for P-plus arhitekti studio I also got to work on their own development project of a small family housing district near the center of Ljubljana. The 0,3 ha area of land was newly divided into building sites and equipped with infrastructure. A typical row family house was designed specially for the site, with an aim on easy customization for each client and cost effectiveness.

Groundfloor Plan

In 2013 I joined the London based StudioINTEGRATE for my first traineeship. One of my first tasks there was to design a renovation of an entrance house for an urban villa La Berlugane. The building will serve as an occasional accomodation for artist or friends visiting the owner. The main theme of the house is the combination of semi-enclosed spaces divided by openable panels with patterns. These panels allow for variable layouts and, when closed, create very powerfull and inspiring studio space.

URBAN VILLA

Architectural design

Probbably the most fun project I got to work on was the design of a basement floor pool and spa area. The whole scheme is based on an underground cave lake so the water covers the whole floor and visitors have to use a cantilevered bridge. The design is done with T-splines and had to be redone many times completely from the scratch due to it’s relative complexity. I also kept working on the Entrance house, gradually geting into more and more detail. Selecting materials and searching for manufacturers capable of making more challenging pieces such as the facade panels turned out to be also quite interesting, especially since we managed to get lots of physical samples and mock ups.

Lesná district hub master’s thesis The thesis proposes a modification of an area on the southern edge of a Brno housing estate Lesna, defined by train tracks from the south side, třída Generála Píky-Okružní crossing from the west, Heleny Malířové street from north and Okružní-Merhautova-Seifertova crossroad from the east. A thorough survey of the southern part of the Lesná settlement is carried out in the first part and the most pressing problems of the region are determined. The following part is then an urban planning study, aimed at dealing with discovered problems. The proposed design deals mainly with unification of two halves of the central area to allow for direct access of the train station, enlargement of a main road in the Okružní street to incorporate a new tram line and placement of a new office building for Brno-Sever municipality in the bottom half of the territory to increase its attractiveness.

„GAZEBO” OF FRIENDSHIP Project

In 2012, our faculty building was being renovated. As a part of the process our school management announced an architecture competition for a gazebo for an empty grass spot in a courtyard of our faculty building.  sit

 view

 climb

My idea was to give students something to climb on, a place to meet and relax and perhaps watch and see the school from different view.

 a top view

 a statue by unknown author, my inspiration

 a section cut

creates specific dreamy atmosphere. Everything adds up to an unique microcosm where each moment spent is a separate experience.

Blob architecture “living room”

Living Room is a proposal for a new “bungalow” for Harads Treehotel. Unlike most of the rooms, this one focuses more on the feelings inside the building, rather than outside views. The designed room is created to look alien and unsettling, to explore and experience unusual during the one night stay. It contains two “bedrooms” with overhead windows, which are the main focal points of the design. The rooms are much taller than usual and lack any beds or furniture, to make the visitor feel like an intruder in a strange living room, which might not be a room after all.

For the last few weeks in Studio INTEGRATE I was appointed a head of the Taichung cultural centre competition project. The theme of our work was, based on traditional Taiwanese feast decoration, floating box of lanterns. These little bubbles lying on artificially created landscape provide the building with both heat and cooling, as well as they hold green plants and help to clean the air.The cooling cells need to bee highly reflective and, as they cover most of the facade, they make the building look highly unusual. 剖面图 Section 15

GRASSHOPPER Show off This script was written to create a parametric paper strip model of a loft surface. I used the model to test the space impression of such surface when used as a tunnel. Everything went great till the point where I had to put the strips together. They really didn’t like the idea of touching each other and forced me to use some super glue to convince them, which inevitably led to much dirtier model than I was hoping for. With addition of some misplaced strips, the final result really is not that great, but at least I learned some things and can hope for better result in the future.

One of my early scripts, it takes a 2D curve and creates stairs with such shape. All parameters like step height, number or length are parametric. I created it when I was designing an exterior atrium and wasn’t quite sure about the final shape.

Probably the most useful of all my scripts so far, this one takes one small object and orients it in every corner of all selected polygonal faces. The use is obvious I believe I made it when I needed to model custom anchors on Acrylic glass boards. The only downside was that I never actually came to use it, as my computer was unable to compute such detailed model. But the script itself works nicely.

You may try making this model for yourself at home as well. First, carefully cut out all the pieces one by one. Then cut every stripe where the cross lines indicate, but only to half their length so they remain whole! Now comes the most difďŹ cult part. Carefully interlock numerated and lettered stripes together and create the ďŹ nal form. A drop of glue onto every intersection greatly eases the job, as the stripes tend to fall apart. And there you go! You have your own stripe model of my interior design space study!
